Resorts in Tangalle

We stayed at Good Karma Resort for five nights at the end of our Sri Lanka trip, and it was exactly what we were looking for. The resort is spread over both sides of a natural road: the reception, spa, and private villas on one side, while the upper and lower rooms, pool, and restaurant are located directly at the beach. We had an upper room with an ocean view, which was spacious, well-cooled with air conditioning and a fan, and provided great sleep each night. We arrived quite early (11 AM) due to our schedule, but that was no problem at all. We were welcomed with a fresh fruit juice, our luggage was taken care of, and we could immediately relax at the beach. In about an hour and a half, our room was ready, with our suitcases already waiting for us—great service! Now, about the beach: simply amazing. Unlike some other resorts along this coastline, Good Karma has direct beach access with sunbeds right on the sand. The transition from resort to beach feels natural and blends beautifully with the surroundings, with plenty of natural shade. Since our main goal was relaxation after two weeks of traveling, this was perfect, and we spent most of our time at the beach. Food & drinks were excellent. The bar is open all day for drinks, cocktails, and snacks, and there’s a big lunch menu and plenty of dinner options, including a fresh catch of the day. Breakfast was my favorite part, enjoyed in the upstairs dining room with a stunning view and the first rays of sunlight. The Sri Lankan breakfast option was a highlight! Dinner is flexible, which I liked—you can decide each day, and if you feel like a change of scenery, there are plenty of nice restaurants within a 20-minute walk along the beach in either direction. The service was at the level you’d expect from a quality resort—friendly, helpful staff, well-maintained surroundings, and everything was taken care of properly.

My review is based on just one day of stay and everything we had the chance to experience. During our journey of discovering Sri Lanka, I had to choose a hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday, and Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort exceeded all my expectations. A special thank you to the wonderful team, and especially to our host Imalka, who went above and beyond to prepare a surprise for my wife – all improvised on the same day. The resort is truly paradise, fully living up to its five-star status, from check-in to check-out, with excellent facilities. The room is spacious, clean, and elegant, surrounded by gardens and offering stunning sea views. The pool is fantastic, with plenty of space to relax. The beach is peaceful and perfect for relaxing, although the sea can be quite rough. However, this is not a problem, as there is a nearby beach where swimming is safer. That beach is also charming, with seaside bars and restaurants. The bar at the Il Mare restaurant offers a happy hour with great drinks, breathtaking views, and a stunning sunset. Dinner at Journeys was the cherry on top – a warm ambiance and exquisitely prepared cuisine. Breakfast was also exceptional. Even though I am familiar with the Anantara brand and have stayed at several of their resorts worldwide, Tangalle Resort managed to surprise us. We even considered staying an extra night, but that would have disrupted our travel plans in Sri Lanka. Without a doubt, this is a hotel to return to for a longer stay. Fabulous place in a peaceful area. Amazing views over the lagoon. Short walk to the turtle beach. Room was huge and immaculate. Large breakfast. Thanks for the hospitality!

We had upstairs room with high ceiling and balcony over looking the garden. Room was new clean and comfortable with air con and stocked fridge. Bottled water available so no need to go to shop Location was amazing 5 minutes walk to the right to Silent Beach and 5 min walk to Goyambokka Beach to the left. Breakfast was one of the best we have had in Sri Lanka and different everyday. Owner was kind an very informative. He arranged TukTuk and taxi for us when we needed I would not hesitate to recommend this place

Cleanest huge room ever. The owner built 2 floors big rooms bungalow, so every accomodation doesn’t have direct neighbors and therefore is quite and private . The bed was king and comfortable, very big bathroom , hot water and high pressure. We slept without AC and appreciate the ceiling fan. Breakfast was great: every day something different is offered . The position is unbeatable, close to a beautiful Long Beach ( no swimming though). The owner went an extra mile to arrange a scooter , provide meeKiri and always asked if we needed anything . The surrounding area offers a large number of restaurants and cafes , very quiet st night and the lagoon is pure poetry . We are now in talalla and no comparison : we miss already SHINE.

The location and the staff

Everything! Location is amazing, just in front of the ocean. Nice swimming pool, good food and friendly stuff, ready to help you to organize your trips.

The family are very sweet and helpful. The location is quiet and peaceful and very close to an empty beach. The Sri Lankan curry and rice was outstanding and we enjoyed the fresh juices. The aircon was quiet and the hot water worked.
