There is really not much to recommend Salto. We went for the thermal baths which is worth an afternoon but then you should head out and across the border.
There is one ATM, at the bus terminal. If it's empty, the closest place to get cash is Salto, as there are no banks in Termas. Salto is a nice town to spend half a day in.
Salto is a quirky place, much like Uruguay in general. Stopped through on my way South from Brazil, via Concordia (Argentina), which is a very effective over-night route. Check out the hot springs - quirky, but worth a visit if you're a fan of hot water.
Salto is a pleasant town with restaurants, shops, banks and a good base for visiting the thermal springs and hydroelectric dam. A dam doesn't sound exciting but it is worth a visit to see this amazing feat of engineering and you get to drive across to Argentina and back. English explanations by Mercedes Nieto were excellent and delivered with warmth and smiles.
Seemed like a place where there's not a lot going on. We stayed for one night just because we were on our way to the Argentinian side. Beware that during carnaval, both Salto and Concordia are completely shut down, with next to no open shops, restaurants or hotels. We couldn't even cross the border by ferry because the harbors were closed.
Good hotel right in the city center of Salto. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Spacious parking lot.
Proximity to the bus and thermal park. Laundry service was great.
Very comfortable setting, catering was very good, lots of activities.
Thermal pool is really good and hotel has good shared spaces and nice well kept grounds and garden. The breakfast is good and the restaurant serves good quality food.
The pools - and especially the associated thermal water park/spa - were amazing. Unlike anything I've ever seen in any other part of the world. Really fun for the entire family. We all loved that part.
I want to mention the staff first of all for being friendly and welcoming-Flavellina,Lilliana and Shanina. They went out of their way to make me feel at home. The room was large and serviced daily.Sleep quality was excellent. The hotel is centrally located and was excellent value for money.I can definitely recommend this hotel...10 out of 10.
Quiet hotel within walking distance of the thermal baths, but they also had a hot water pool on site as well.
Breakfast was good in pleasant surroundings
Breakfast was acceptable. Size of room would be good for a double bed. But when the room is for two singles it is way to small. It almost doesn't fit
The staff was extremely friendly and ready to answer all my questions. The hotel is quiet although it's in the centre of the town. Some interesting sights are only a few blocks away from the hotel. The breakfast was good and offered lots of delicious things, especially the orange cake. Buses run frequently to the spas nearby.
Food was great, kids had a blast.
This place is modern, spacious and central and the hosts do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
It's a welcoming place located right across the street from the hot springs park. The rooms are clean. The WiFi is very good. I brought my laptop and was able to work without interruption. All staff was friendly, courteous and professional. The pool area is spotless and well maintained. We enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back.
