On first impression, we were a little skeptical due to the "rustic" appearance, especially of our room. However, it turned out to be a very pleasant stay. The owner was very friendly and helpful, the location beautiful and quiet. And the breakfast in the morning was deliciously served in a nice dining area.

This hotel is 10 minutes’ walk from Geilo Train Station. It offers a gym, sauna and pool. Free WiFi and private bathrooms are standard in Highland Lodge’s individually decorated rooms. Super clean, great water pressure in the shower and a great cup of coffee. Room also had a lovely balcony. One minute walk to center of town.

We slept really good in this wooden cabin and the mountain air was fantastic. Breakfast is delicious. Just be aware that if you book a room with shared bathrooms you have to bring your own bed linen (or you can rent). It's is really calm area with no distraction.
