I loved mocambo. No need to leave that vicinity of Boca de Rio. Veracruz Carnival time is too crazy for me. We stayed mocambo one week, left for a week down the coast during carnival, then returned to luxuriate, sun tan, swim,. be healthy at Mocambo before returning to our everyday world up northern cold
Veracruz unfortunately has become very dilapidated. The zocalo looks very run down. Things are no longer pristine and cared for. On the plus side the food, the weather and the people are wonderful. Villa Rica restaurant in Mocambo is amazing.
This was my second time in Veracruz and I really like the city. The taxis are quite inexpensive and it's easy to get around in the buses. However, few people speak English, so speaking Spanish really helps. I find Veracruzanos to be some of the friendliest people in Mexico. I always like to go to the Gran Café La Parroquia for the Jarocho style coffee called "lecheros". Also a great place to people-watch.
I liked Veracruz style. The city, roads and the boulevard along the coast is just marvelous. We ate hot wings at Las Alitas, we had a "lechero" a typical coffee latte at La Parroquia, (the one at El Sol Plaza, there are several around the city) we hanged out at Andamar Plaza a very nice shopping center. We also went to Xalapa city, the capital city and there we visited the Anthropology Museum. There are many great places to visit and things to do in Veracruz. Swimming, shopping, eating, archeological sites, regional folk dancing shows, the greatest aquarium of Latin america, etc.
Veracruz was a much larger city than I thought. Easy to get to our hotel from airport. Always order transportation within the airport not outside. Remember to take about $50 to $100 in Pesos. Most taxis and vendors prefer pesos over dollars and I found myself not being able to buy anything because I only had dollars. We travelled to old town one day to purchase Guaveras and enjoyed the culture. Make sure you always order transportation from a hotel for safety. Also went to the mall for dinner one night. Had dinner at a place called Harbors. We made the mistake of sitting outside near water. Much too loud with music video screens, no one spoke English so ordering was a nightmare and food was terrible. Not good evening. We were there for wedding which was held in cathedral square in Old Town. Authentic ceremony. Reception at Shangrila on other side of town in more of country. Beautiful setting on river. People very friendly everywhere!
The Capital City and "Grand Old Dame" of the state of Veracruz, Xalapa has lost a good deal of her former glory to urbanization and recent political scandals in the state. The loss of huge sums of public money to corruption, is evident in lack of maintenance in other parts of the city, outside of centro. The Archeological Museum still makes this a "must see" city.
Veracruz and its people were awesome. Stay in boca del rio. Stayed at the Hilton it was great!! The beach was warm and inviting. The food in town sensational. The aquarium was nice. We went on a boat tour in the marina. The guides friendly and informative.
I live in a small city in southern vercruz but go to the city of Veracruz to fly out. Veracruz has live local musicians in a plaza at night. The jarocha is a must. Drinking coffee at the parocia is a must. It if very very humid. You sweat all the time. Lots of sea food. There is a cement board walk around the sea. But it is more of an industrial feel not like Cancun. Very very old architecture some buildings hundreds of years old.
Veracruz is a nice city. The malecon area offers a lot of things to see around. As rooms in the hotel with beach view! The view is so nice! La gran parroquia restaurant is a must go restaurant. The restaurant is an old traditional restaurant. Maybe no so nice, but the coffee and the "canillas" is something that you must taste!
I recently stayed at Lithio Hotel in Veracruz and had a pleasant experience. The rooms were clean, well-maintained and comfortable, providing a cozy atmosphere to relax after exploring the city. The location was decent, making it easy to access nearby attractions. One of the highlights was the included breakfast, it was fantastic, with a variety of options that were both fresh and delicious. Overall, Lithio Hotel offers good value for the price and I’d recommend it for a comfortable stay in Veracruz.
The rooms are spectacular, spacious, nicely decorated, extremely clean. We ate regional/Veracruz food at the hotel restaurant it was delicious, affordable and Rodolfo our server was excellent. Casitas is easily walkable down the beach or by road (a few Mosquitos). We communicated with the hotel in advance, they were extremely helpful on how to get there (we took the ADO). I randomly chose Ananta Hotel based on Booking.com reviews, it met(it’s exactly like the photos) and exceeded expectations!
The hotel rooms and grounds are beautiful in the *old* Mexico style. Our room was super comfortable and immaculately clean. Beds were comfy. We had a suite with a private patio which was great for morning breakfasts. The breakfast was always excellent and happily delivered to our little patio. The bacon was cooked perfectly as well as the Veracruzana eggs. We have stayed at the Posada de Cafeto five times over the years -- never disappoints
It is clean and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The beach is really close and of good size. Other areas of Veracruz have suffered some erosion, meaning the beach has shrunk and the water is a lot closer to the edge of hotels, here is a lot better than other hotels I’ve stayed. The restaurant service is pretty good, with competitive prices and good flavor. The staff that helps arrange chairs, umbrellas at pool are very nice and helpful.
It's a very quaint hotel in Veracruz. You have to understand that it's not a resort town and there isn't much outside tourism it's mainly going to be locals from 2-3 hours away that come visit the hotel so don't expect any crazy amenities. The hotel is very quiet if you're looking for a weekend getaway. Staff was friendly and I liked that the rooms were big and very private for the most part.
Dollar for dollar, every bit worth the price in comparison to the usually overpriced hotels. I couldn't believe it. The best value I could find in all of Veracruz. Traveling with my uncle, we asked for a room with two beds, but it actually cost less to pay for two rooms with a single bed. I had my own room! The place was charming, a real taste of Mexican decor. Unlimited coffee offered in the lobby.
Just over a block to the beachfront, great parking, staff wonderful. The room was very clean and the shower had hot water - who could ask for more from basic accommodations! I had a very early flight out so this was perfect for staying in Veracruz the night before. I wanted easy out and budget but something where I could walk over to the waterfront. Would stay again if a similar need occurs.
I did not expect the staff to speak English and they did not but they allowed me to check in at 7 o'clock in the morning. You should learn at least a little Spanish when visiting Veracruz. When I woke up I saw a balcony looking over palm trees and the ocean. The hotel pool & hot tub are nice and quiet and good. The cleaning staff were very polite.
At 40 minutes from airport, 30 minutes from bus terminal, but in the middle between Bocal de Rio and Veracruz downtown so neither you can do walking! Breakfast is great plenty of variety but expensive so if it’s is not included in your rate my suggestion is have breakfast in other of the much restaurants in the mall where the hotel is
Historic hotel with a lot of flair of the old times. This hotel is different from all the others. Big rooms, excellent beds, very good breakfast, very good restaurant, good price. Very friendly staff. Big park, big inside and outside swimming pools. Close to the beach. For site seeing in Veracruz you need a car or taxi.
A very simple hotel which fulfilled expectations given the low price. I chose it because it is very close (5km) to the airport in Veracruz AND they have a free shuttle service which means you don't have to deal with the totally dishonest, thieving Mexican taxi drivers who rob you 24 out of 25 times you use one.
Great place for exploring Veracruz! It’s not a super fancy hotel, but it’s very good for such a low price and it’s close to the beach, which makes it a great place if you want to watch sunrise by the Gulf. There are some good breakfast places nearby and the city center is now very far if you like walking
The location is really nice, and can walk to the Veracruz port. The surrounding is beautiful and the room is really nice. Also, the most important, I made a mistake when I book the hotel (I booked in another day), and finally the staff helped us to get a room when I arrived. I really appreciate it.
I love the location of this hotel, close to the ocean, the aquarium, and different places to eat. The staff is always friendly and willing to help. I usually stay at this hotel when I go to Veracruz because it has adequate parking and the rooms and linens are clean.
Hotel is only a couple of blocks from "El Malecón", stores and restaurants. Great price. Hotel is very clean and staff is very friendly. Beds are very comfortable and the A/C is great (much appreciated for Veracruz' type of weather)
It was my first visit to Veracruz. The hotel is cheap and not very cheerful. The location is near the port and the prominade is great to walk on along the ocean. The room was basic, but it is fine at the price level.
Best location for a stay in Veracruz, with an excellent restaurant next to the hotel. The rooms, design, staff, daily breakfast and the view from the pool area onto the sea is amazing. A perfect getaway hotel !
Great hostel! The staff is amazing! They gave me a lot of tips for Veracruz. I was really sad that there wasn’t any music nights anymore, but it did give me a quiet night! Location close to old center and sea!
Veracruz
Bright, spacious apartment with three double bedrooms and two bathrooms. Well-equipped kitchen (for basic cooking). Helpful response from owner to any questions I had.Veracruz well worth a visit.
Perfect location for sight seeing and food. The hotel and surrounding areas are clean and safe. Veracruz is the most Mexican big city we have visited. Almost no US or Canadian tourists.
