This was BY FAR the best accommodation we had in Madagascar-Main-Island! The complex is beautiful and very well maintained down to the last detail, especially the spacious, well-tended garden. The location is excellent, particularly quiet and just a few minutes from the entrance to the national park. Our host Hervé and his team took great care of us. Hervé cooked up a big meal (also with local ingredients) for us every day. The food is unrivalled, he is a true ‘chef de cuisine’. The food is absolutely fantastic and is characterised by European, Malagasy and Japanese influences. The only difference to a toque-awarded restaurant is that Hervé's portions are large and the price-performance ratio is right ;) My wife is a vegetarian, Hervé has come up with something every day (!) and cooked delicious dishes for her. The breakfast was sumptuous and excellent. He also prepared a packed lunch for us once for the national park, delicious blue cheese sandwiches with mustard (thank you!). Hervé also has a great selection of wines, spirits and cocktails. The main house is extremely cool and fancy (fusion/style mix, as described above), there is also a very nice lounge and a terrace and also WiFi available there. I will recommend this accommodation to anyone travelling around Ankaranana /Diego Suarez! p.s.: Of course, I also read the (few) negative reviews beforehand, can't understand them at all and am wondering, if those people had simply mixed up the accommodation (or what else could be the reason for such ratings).

Il villaggio di Ambatoloka è un villaggio che vive di turismo, con molte contraddizioni, basta pensare che hanno le fibre ottiche e vivono in mezzo all'immondizia, vale la pena essere scoperto giorno dopo giorno. Il mare non è pulitissimo e non è adatto allo snorkeling, sia perchè non ha una barriera corallina vicina sia perchè l'acqua è spesso torbida. Si può fare snorkeling spostandosi in 20 minuti di barca a Nosy Tanikely dove ci sono anche le tartarughe. Il paese è diviso in due, una parte turistica piena di locali gestiti da italiani e francesi e una parte meno turistica, ma che rappresenta la vita quotidiana della polazione piena di attività e mercatini. Quasi nessuno parla italiano e pochissimi parlano inglese, la lingua comune è il francese. L'euro viene accettato solo nei locali turistici, ma non è conveniente usarlo, conviene cambiarlo in albergo con gli Ariary, la moneta locale. Portatevi sempre una torcia elettrica e una macchinetta per le zanzare e spray.

Eccezionale. Struttura estremamente pulita a curata in tutti i dettagli. Eccellente la pulizia delle stanze. Le stanze sono molto confortevoli, ampie e ben attrezzate. Il personale é molto professionale e gentilissimo. La spiaggia privata é su una baia magnifica, molto ampia e tranquilla. É possibile organizzare tutte le escursioni direttamente dall'albergo. Il centro é facilmente raggiungibile con breve tragitto in taxi o tuk tuk. Abbiamo trascorso uno splendido soggiorno. Molto consigliato

Exceptionally positive experience! The accommodations were amazing: beautiful, comfortable, clean! The staff was so friendly, welcoming and helpful! We did a combination of relaxing in our villa and enjoying the resort facilities as well as fun excursions which we were able to book through the resort. It was a truly wonderful family vacation!

We had two different rooms because we extended our stay. The first (#5) was close to the pool and better / more private than the second one (#6). The hotel is set 200 meters back from the beach which we liked but some might prefer to be right on the beach. When you get to the beach you are at the far end of the busy part of the beach. Turn left and there's a gorgeous stretch of almost totally deserted soft white sand with warm crystal clear water. Turn right and it's the same beach, but it gets gradually busier, and soon you get to the village of Ramena where you'll find dozens of small restaurants serving excellent seafood. The hotel also has a small swimming pool which is nice for cooling off. It's easy to arrange excursions from there. We went to the Montagne des Francais - it's well worth the effort to climb to the summit where you have a stunning 360 degree view of the bay. You can also walk to Baie des Dunes and Baie des Pigeons - it's a hot sweaty walk but totally doable. However, despite all the fuss about the Trois Baies, the beach at Orangea which is just around the headland from Ramena has got to be one of the nicest beaches in the world.
La struttura , l'architettura
La posizione, a due passi da ristoranti e locali della vita notturna. Lo staff è stato molto cortese e la struttura pulita. La mia camera era piccola ma dotata di tutto il necessario per un breve soggiorno. Durante il mio soggiorno il wifi ha funzionato bene ed anche la climatizzazione. L'hotel è dotato di generatori in caso di interruzione di corrente, cosa molto frequente in Madagascar.
