Located in Tissamaharama, 2.6 km from Tissa Wewa, New Cormorant Lake Resort & Yala Safari Place provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. Gem of a place. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are basic BUT comfortable and clean. For the price they are more than perfect. The setting itself was wonderful - right by the lake, surrounded by wildlife. In the evening, the host took us by tuktuk/scooter for a free tour of the lakes where we saw varans, bats, many birds including two beautiful owls !, and even a (harmless) snake. I booked my Yala safari with the host the day before and we could tell that the driver was more experienced than others. We saw all the wildlife one could see in Yala - leopards, crocodiles, varans, many birds, elephants, mongooses and even a sloth bear ! Perfect place, I'm happy I choose it.

We stayed for 4 nights and would certainly return! Overall a fantastic hotel. Hotel setting is idyllic with amazing pool to lounge around and only 10 metres from the beach - but privacy maintained by palm trees which also provide some much needed shade! Free bodyboards to borrow should you fancy some water-sports which we used everyday :) Only 10 rooms, so very personal (and fantastic) service and small hotel feel which was fab. Felt very secure. Hotel bar located upstairs above the main restaurant is a nice spot for pre dinner cocktails - which were great. Downstairs, right next to the pool is the restaurant which serves fantastic food - the menu is rotated every day for lunch and dinner, so plenty of variety if staying for a few days. Breakfast also very good, and the best coffee we had in Sri Lanka! Everything is cooked fresh to order, but this does mean some meals took a while to arrive particularly at breakfast (our only recommended area of improvement for the hotel)! We intended to do a few day trips, but the hotel was so good we ended up only venturing out for one evening. We hope to return!

Hem estrenat l’habitació del pis superior. Ha sigut una autèntica MERAVELLA! Les vistes són espectaculars, els llits còmodes i estava tot impecable. El tracte amb el personal ha sigut fàcil i agradable, el fill de la mestressa un noi encantador i disposat a ajudar-te tot l’estona. Han sigut un parell de dies idílics, tan de bo poder tornar en un paradís com aquest!!! Pd: l’esmorzar exel•lent! Demaneu que us prepari els sandwich de patata, no he provat cosa igual!

This stay was the best one in Sri Lanka - everything was perfect - delicious breakfast, tasty lobster for dinner, good wi-fi, always enough hot water, adapters to charge phones, wonderfully decorated place. Territory is amazing, clean swimming pool, lots of tropical plants. We remember days spent with this lovely family with pleasure.

Set in Tissamaharama, 9 km from Tissa Wewa, Saffron Lake Yala offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. L’allotjament son diferents cabanes, tradicionals o mes modernes. Està a tocar del llac i t’ofereixen fer una volta en barca pel llac. Tot el complexe esta molt ben cuidat i ple d’arbres de fruita com mangos,taronges,llimones,cocos… La cuina es molt bona i quantitat. Pots demanar cuina internacional o de Sri Lanka. En Ranjith s’esmera per explicar coses i ensenyar-nos el complexe. Si vols pots demanar que t’organtzin el safari a Yala i el trasllat a una altre ciutat com Mirissa,Galle o Matara.

The owner was the nicest host we encountered in Sri Lanka. Forget about eating anywhere but at their house. They prepare the most delicious curry - best we had so far. They breakfast was really good and the portions are very large. The host also organized a safari to Yala park with a very experinced ranger. We even saw a Leopard and a tusker. The host proposed that we go to Kataragama with him for the festival. He arranged the best seats at the festival just for us - free of charge. We met some of the nicest people at the festival, they explained all the history during the festival and tried to please all of our expectations. The location of the house is also at the edge of a very beautiful lake. All in all, you will not be disapointed to book your stay here.

The owner is a very kind and generous man. He took us on a lake tour in his tuk tuk where we saw bats and barn owls.he helped us organize a safari which was exellent. The hotel is great location calm and peaceful aria. He arrange dinner srilankan rice and curry very tasty ...100% highly recommend village mango resort ..
