Kep is a very pleasant place. Small enough to just cycle round with a fascinating crab market at one end - but take time to go right along the sea front. There is a good beach, an array of hammocks and the main boulevard is lovely. Clearly a town that is trying to recapture some of its old grandeur - sadly many of the older properties remain but were damaged severely in the past. The Kep National Park is interesting, but you will need some small cash to pay the entrance fee. We cycled from the hotel around the town.
Kep itself is very quiet, with hotels quite widely spaced. The town has 3 or 4 big attractions - the crab market is just that, but really interesting for an hour; the ruined French villas are well worth a photo; Kep National Park (just behind the town) is great for a trek in the jungle (good for sunrise apparently) and Rabbit Island, 30 mins by boat, is a great beach with a friendly vibe
Kep National Park: big trees, nice paths through the jungle. Nice views! Butterfly farm: beautiful to see them close. Besides the old ruins of french villa's, every thing is well maintained. The national park has been cleaned from plastic and other garbage. Also the town looks very clean.
Crab market is a must see with great grilled seafood. A walk around Kep national park was a wonderful afternoon. Because we were so far from everything we took tuk tuks everywhere. 2-3 dollars for a ride. We recommend looking for accommodation near kep beach.
We really enjoyed Kep. The beach was great in the week when it was quieter, lovely early in the morning for a swim. White sand and clean. Busier with Cambodians at the weekend. Enjoyed eating at Barraka and La Mouette at the crab market, the Deli just past the sailing club on the main road is good for coffee. We found the sailing club a little pretentious and too big for its boots; food expensive and just okay, but good location for happy hour cocktail - happy hr there is only Mon-Thurs. We took the day boat to Rabbit island but were disappointed. Sound of diggers from one beach and other beach crowded. Little choice for food and of poor quality. We much preferred Kep beach, no need to waste money on going to the island. The trip wasn't worth it for us. Walks and the appearance of wild monkeys in Kep National Park make it worth exploring. The sunsets in Kep were stunning.
The rustic feel of the place. Exploring the old colonial ruins, the neighbouring sights like Kampong Trach cave, the pepper plantation, the secret lake, Kep National Park. The sunsets were gorgeous!
The circuit hike through Kep National Park is fairly easy going and you get great views from Sunset Rock. Kep Beach is nice to sit at but the sea has a few bits of litter in it and the water is warmer than the outside air so not refreshing! You can find good, cheap food at the beach (look for the place that does tacos and pick from their Khmer menu items!), the restaurants at the Crab Market are a little pricier but great food, or you can buy cheap off the market grills (my friends got 1kg of crab for $2 that literally had just come out of the sea). There is a tour to a Kampot pepper farm which I didn't find out about until we were leaving, which is a shame as it sounded great.
We loved the Crab market and all the crab shack restaurants. The Kep National Park was a fantastic place to take a trek. We saw wonderful butterflies of many colours and sizes, lizards and Macaque monkeys The amount of polystyrene and plastic litter around the fish market was upsetting.
Kep in a tiny town, good for a short stop, and 30 minutes from Kampot. We had some great meals at restaurants near the Crab market, the speciality is Kampot pepper Crab and other sea foods. Kep is much cleaner than the rest of Cambodia, if you rent a bike you can see all the fields surrounding kep national park litter free, it's beautiful.
It's a tiny city but has charming. I had a nice walk at the Kep National Park. Unfortunately I wasn't able to visit Rabbit island cause weather condition.
This is a lovely hotel. It is backed against Kep National Park so it is quiet except for the sounds of the jungle. One monkey walked past our bungalow but didn’t bother us. The pool is clean and refreshing. My kids loved the pool and ping pong tables. The bungalows are spacious and have good a/c plus fans. Loved that there were lamps AND plugs at the bedside. Staff were polite.
Kep
Gorgeous property with one of the best pools in Cambodia! Super peaceful, just the birds and the monkeys and the balmy breeze blowing. Close to the crab market, and Kep National Park. I really enjoyed my stay here. They had a scooter delivered to me to rent within 10 minutes, very convenient.
A little gem on the foothills of the Kep National Park, 10 minutes away from the crab market. Fantastic staff, great view, tasty food and a lot of nature. We can strongly recommend Atmaland, a beautiful unpretentious 3 stars hotel, how we like them
I loved the building and the cottage room we stayed in. It's very pleasant indeed and has huge amounts of potential. You're right door to Kep National Park and just down the road from the crab markets, Kep West and Kep Beach.
With nice view of the garden and sea the pool is very good location The room is very clean and eco friendly set up the bed is comfortable Breakfast was very good the staff is very helpful The Wave beach front restaurant is fabulous food and amazing atmosphere All in love
Beautiful resort, clean room, friendly and professional staffs.
Location was great, right across the street from beach.
The staff were very nice, welcoming, attentive. The place was exceptional!
Great place to relax from the busy Phnom Penh. Amazing natural pool. Lovely wine & cocktails and good value. The owners Françoise & Patrick are very welcoming. Would definitely recommend it. Stephanie & John. NZ
This hotel was superb, the rooms were enormous, the service was great and the staff were really friendly. The pool was stunning. It's about 2 minutes walk from the crab market, which is lively and fun and the restaurants of kep. If you get the chance take a tuktuk up to Led Zeps for the sunset, it's magical.
Great views, location and breakfast.
