Von hier aus ist es nicht weit (mit dem Auto) zur berühmten Tullamore-Destillerie.

Diese beeindruckende gotische Burg stammt aus dem Jahre 1209 und liegt inmitten eines 26 ha großen Parks und Wäldern. Warm , friendly , hospitable staff. Lovely castle .

Welcome to the County Arms, located in the heart of Ireland, in the beautiful heritage town of Birr, the perfect location to discover all the Midlands has to offer. Das Zimmer ist gemütlich mit sehr bequemen Betten. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und gut. Obst, Saft, Cappuccino, Lachs, Eiervariationen, … In der Bar haben wir lecker gegessen. Das Restaurant hat nur Fr + Sa geöffnet. Die Mitarbeiter sind (bis auf den Rezeptionsmitarbeiter abends) sehr freundlich. Der Garten ist unglaublich schön. Mit Pferden und Fohlen hinter dem Hotel ;)

Darren was really welcoming and happy to share tips and recommendations. He was just a top bloke really and it was great sharing a pint with him at the pub. We really enjoyed our short stay.

I was welcomed by Geraldine, who greeted me with a cup of tea and a chat, making me feel at home right from the start. My room was immaculately clean with a spacious ensuite bathroom. TV had lots of channels including Netflix and there is also tea/coffee and biscuits available outside your room if you wish to make use of them. The breakfast was delicious and guests have ample choice of fruit,cereal or a cooked meal. Enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it.
