It’s cozy and right in front of the beach. They have a restaurant with drinks and a decent menu with some specials, which luckily for us was lobster when we arrived. Big, fat, fresh lobster. Staff is kind and the rooms are super comfortable and well designed.

It’s a struggle to rent motorbikes so don’t just turn up thinking you can wizz off & explore.. they searched for a friend who was willing to rent one and I was so grateful. They also gave me so much help like running me to the ATM when my card didn’t work in the one close by, offering to make a packed lunch for my day exploring, giving me their WhatsApp in case I ran into any trouble. It became a home away from home & I can’t wait to return

The hotel is beautifully designed and in a beautiful area very close to some picturesque beaches. The staff are very friendly and attentive and make it easy to organise trips and activities so you can experience Sumba. Surf lessons are a lot of fun and the village tour and waterfall tour are both great. Cocktails were really good, as was the food at breakfast. The hotel seems to have a good relationship with the local people and seems to have genuinely benefitted Sumba.
Mario Hotel could not be in a better location! From the beautiful pool area you can walk down the steps and you are right on the beach. The beach is incredible, so clean and untouched and there wasn't another person in sight so very relaxing. The staff are so friendly and helpful and we were able to rent a motorbike and basic snorkeling gear from the hotel. Our room had great AC and was clean and comfortable. I would 100% recommend Mario to anyone visiting Sumba.
Beautiful new hotel that has uniform elements. During our visit everything was still new, clean and working as it should. The staff was friendly and helpful. As in all of Sumba, if there can be a language barrier in English, but we handled everything playfully and with a smile. The price performance ratio was great.
SHF is the perfect place to explore Sumba and be part of a social impact project. The trainees are incredible young adults ready to learn from those who stay in SHF and share their knowledge about the island. Its a 5-star hotel at accesible prices and impact.

Very nice hotel by the ocean on the South of Sumba. The bungalows are well decorated, clean and with outside bathroom. The common area is great to relax. The food served is excellent. I highly recommend
Considering its owned/ operated by locals, I think its one of the best that Sumba can offers. The beach on the backside of the hotels are great, especially on the low tides.

What a beautiful place! The most beautiful view of our trip through SE Asia. We made a very nice trek through this beautiful landscape with our children. The staff is extremely friendly and enthusiastic which made the stay even better. In the restaurant you can enjoy a delicious meal and the view.
