This was the first time I tried a new listing on Booking.com and I was very pleased how things turned out. Not only was the price reasonable but since I was going to be arriving and leaving from the central bus station, it made sense for me to stay at a place which was within walking distance. The biggest downside of the Hotel Casa Camba Mar is locating it as the signage is only on one street. As well the streets in the area are not really streets from a western perspective so that makes it also challenging. Finally, I usually rely on GoogleMaps to help me get around but it was not working that well on the day I arrived. The hotel did send a corrected map and it is worth keeping in touch with them on WhatsApp to get assistance with finding the hotel. As for the room itself, it was quite large with mine having two single beds. Note these beds are very firm which may be difficult for some folk. The room also contained a two seat sofa, coffee table and bar fridge along with a desk and chair and small satellite connected tv with quite a few English channels. A wall mirror, built-in shelving for clothes and bedside lights and stands compliment the room. The bathroom is also quite spacious with shower, toilet and sink all in very good shape. Clearly, Casa Camba Mar is still quite new which shows. The place is very clean and my room was cleaned each day of my stay. On my last day there was an issue with the electricity but that is a reflection of the state of the power system in the entire country. The manager, Daniel, and receptionist, Sabino, were very friendly, hospitable and forgiving for my lack of Portuguese language ability. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

HOTEL BADINCA Alojamento Low Cost in Bissau avenida FRANCISCO MENDES features free bikes, garden, a bar and shared lounge in Bissau. I'm very happy we found this hotel because it is great value for Bissau standards, but our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was also very nice. It is located in a very residential unpaved street, but a stone's throw from the Império monument in the center of town, so walking to Bissau Velho is easily doable. Staff were lovely and helpful, communication was not an issue although we do not speak Portuguese or Krioulo. If I ever return to Bissau I'd definitely return!
