Take a Guatemala City and Antigua City tour with guide to maximize your experience. I particularly remember the colorful craft market in Antigua. Wish I could have stayed longer. Prices were low, selection high and without side by side vendors, one can look around without pressure.
I’m from Alexandria, VA and Guatemala City was amazing and enjoyed the food and location of many restaurants and shops. This specific apartment help me feel safe and secured during my whole trip. See you soon😊. Thanks, Joe
The people of Guatemala seem happy and caring whether in your hotel or out on the streets or in the market place. We had just come from Belize and we saw a big difference. I will stay longer here next time and explore more of this welcoming country.
Guatemala is a beautiful country with landscapes and very interesting native people with a unique ancestral culture. I recommend to discover this adventure by yourselves
Little gem not yet found by tourists. We felt safe and traveled extensively and had an amazing time. Have a feeling for the trials these people have for every day e instance. They work so hard to survive every day. Thank you guatemala
Guatemala is beautiful. With little children we did travel with car seats and rented a car. Which I think is a must to travel around. Atitlán was beautiful. Antigua was too. The only thing is that to get there it might be a bit of a culture shock. There is a lot of traffic and at times a bit scary. But you forget all of that once you get to your destination. People are very friendly in the small towns and really nothing to fear. In the city things might be a bit different. But people are still just as lovely. There is a lot too see with little ones.
Guatemala is an amazing country. I was worried because I read all about the crime, but I never once felt for a moment that I wasn't safe. Flores, Tikal, Antigua, Lake Atitlan are a must. And I have to say, I've been to many places around the world, and Guatemalans are by far the sweetest, most generous, and kind people on the planet - hands down. Everyone should go there to learn how humans should interact with each other and we will have a better world.
Thriving city with unusually balmy weather for the season. Difficult to grt prople in public sector motivated to work the week prior to Easter. Zones 9 and are safe but avoid walking around at night alone, as in any large city. Taxis are inexpensive but do negotiate prior to climbing in. If ever lost, guatemalan will go out of their wsy to help. The national theatre is an architectural masterpiece. Zacapa XO rhum, world class!
Guatemala is a great country to visit! The culture, history and rich scenery is definitely worth the trip. If you are thinking of going on the sunrise tour to Tikal, be aware the morning cloud cover half the year make this extra effort for not. Although, getting through the site during the morning hours is the most comfortable. Once the full sun hits at noon, the heavy walking and climbing becomes quite difficult. In Petén, try Cool Beans for breakfast or lunch. We loved the view.
Guatemala is an amazing place. Its scenery is amazing. If you've never seen a volcano, and there are several in Guatemala, it's not to be missed. Antigua is a magical city.
Zona 10, Guatemala
I had an excellent experience at Reforma Hostel. First, both staff that I interacted with were kind, friendly, and accommodating. Second, the facilities were fantastic- comfortable bed, hot showers, and clean atmosphere. I especially appreciate the extra touches in the dorm, such as curtains for privacy, reading lamps, and lockers. The breakfast was simple but pleasant. Overall, this is excellent value and I highly recommend it to any travelers passing through or exploring Guatemala City.
A lovely small hotel with nice, spacious room, soft bed, hot shower, beautiful garden and lovely rooftop café. The hotel arranged airport pick up for me which went great. The staff was friendly and helpful, really the best team I have ever met, they really helped with anything I needed. The breakfast was tasty and I loved the rooftop setting of the café where you can have breakfast. Everything is within walking distance, the area is as safe as it can get in Guatemala City.
Hostal is a maybe two blocks from Guatemala airport. Perfect for an overnight stay if your flight arrives in late. Take a quick cheap Uber to the location. Solo female traveler friendly. You have to ring the doorbell to be let in. If you’re a light sleeper, the walls are extremely thin here. Ask the front desk for a fan like I did and it helped a lot. Also, take an eye mask as it has a ceiling sky light. Breakfast is a traditional Guate one but does the trick.
Zona 13, Guatemala
Great location nearby the airport for those with late or early flights. Accommodation was very clean - rooms, kitchen, bathroom, sitting area. Great WiFi. Excellent breakfast. Hosts were super sweet and friendly! Highly recommend, they were so kind to help us book our shuttle to Guatemala City and they even gave us a ride to the airport. 😊 Will definitely book our stay again with Ivonne when we return to Guatemala City! Five stars ⭐️
Zona 13, Guatemala
The staff were incredibly friendly and easy to communicate with on the booking app. They were so welcoming and friendly. It was just my young daughter and I, we got in late and were very tired and they were kind enough to upgrade us to a room with a bathroom. Very close to the airport, $3 Uber and it arrived in 2 minutes. Rooms were dated but very clean. We felt safe here. Would stay here again if flying in/out of Guatemala.
Zona 13, Guatemala
I stayed multiple times in this place. Certainly Mariana's Petit Hotel is my home away home. Thanks to owners Fernando and Jeannett for their exceptional hospitality. Wonderful staff, Ofelia and Mildred made me happy with great breakfast and kind services. Free shuttle service is awesome and makes it so easy in and out of the airport. This is the jewel of Guatemala City with a great value. I don't need anywhere else.
Zona 4, Guatemala
I liked that it had a kitchen where you could cook and loved the terrace too. We had a private bathroom and that was great too. The location was good and the staff super friendly. If you’re passing by Guatemala City, it’s worth staying here. We felt super comfortable. Also there are some bars and terraces just across the street and a supermarket. It’s close to the airport as well.
Zona 10, Guatemala
It was absolutely great choice to stay in this place. Made some good friends while staying and the owner was very kind. As a female solo traveler, this is the perfect place I've been looking for. The facility was clean and tidy including the room and bed. For what they provided, the price was amazing. I will definitely come back here for my next trip to Guatemala:)
Zona 10, Guatemala
The property was spacious and had spectacular views over the city from every window in the house. The luxury of a good washing machine and dryer were essential for this stage of our travels and we managed to get everything clean and dry before we left. It felt like a real bit of luxury after our time spent travelling backpacker style around Guatemala.
Zona 13, Guatemala
The host was amazing, probably the nicest host we had in all of Guatemala, and vert helpful. The place was clean and tidy and there is a common area and also breakfast included (although we had to leave before breakfast started). It was also nice with hot water in the shower.
Zona 13, Guatemala
Everything was perfect. The owners picked me up from the airport even though I arrived very late. Room was clean, cool and comfy and the shower was good and hot. Breakfast was much appreciated too. I could not have hoped for a better welcome to Guatemala! Thank you so much.
Zona 10, Guatemala
The location was great. The value was great. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. I loved that there were easy access electric outlets, sometimes that can be hard to find in Guatemala. I also loved that the toilet and sink were separate from the shower.
We loved how close of proximity it was to the Guatemala City airport. Staff was very accommodating, I had a flight very early in the morning and they were able to schedule my breakfast and car ride to the airport. Overall, the staff was very helpful and friendly.
Zona 13, Guatemala
Ready access to La Aurora airport. Simple accommodations for the experienced traveler who has no need for upscale pampering and its attendant costs. I am frequently in Guatemala for community development volunteer work and invariably stay at Los Lagos.
The exceptional staff at Good Hotel Guatemala made my stay memorable. The room's thoughtful arrangement and the incredibly comfortable beds exceeded my expectations. A truly top-notch experience that I highly recommend to fellow travelers.
Zona 13, Guatemala
Perfect for budget traveler going to and from Guatemala's International Airport. Impossible to be closer to the airport but not under the flight path because I didn't hear the planes. Staff could not have been more helpful.
Zona 4, Guatemala
Great location with lots of good restaurants on your doorstep and a convenience store across the road. Comfy pod beds and the showers had the best water pressure I've experienced in Guatemala. Great value for a short stay.
Zona 1, Guatemala
Communication with the host was fine. Of course I had to googletranslate not only my messages but also my host's messages. Location is good to see real Guatemala City, walking distance to the Culture Palace.
Room was excellent with almost all amenities. Very clean apartment in the heart of Guatemala city at a reasonable price. I definitely recommend this apartment for short/long term stay.
Zona 1, Guatemala
Excellent stay in the heart of Ciudad de Guatemala. The house itself is beautiful, safe, comfortable and very clean. The staff is kind and very supportive. Certainly I would stay again.
