Nestled in a wooded valley, Gidleigh Park boasts 107 acres of mature grounds, within the wilds of Dartmoor. With an award winning restaurant, this estate is just 6 minutes’ drive from Chagford. Everything! We were so sad to leave. We love travel so have stayed in some amazing hotels across the world (including other Relais & Chateaux properties), but after our stay at Gidleigh Park, we realized this might have been the BEST hotel ever - even including some very special Japanese ryokans. What made it so wonderful: - The staff were all so genuinely nice. We had a lot of odd requests (since I’m pregnant and my husband has very specific dietary preferences), and I’m sure they secretly thought we were total weirdos, but they did a great job covering this up - no request was too strange! Examples: 1.) my husband became addicted to Innocent smoothies during our stay in England and insisted on having some every day (…even in a Michelin-starred hotel), so they kept them in the fridge for us and brought out the bottles whenever he wanted to pour a glass; 2.) I went down each morning to have breakfast but my husband prefers to sleep in, so I would request a takeaway homemade croissant for him. This request alone wasn’t too bad perhaps, but the croissants were so good warmed up, so we would later request to have them warmed right before he ate them - which they kindly did… - The food is SUPERB - I could’ve eaten for weeks straight just at the casual lounge (we’d normally try the formal restaurant too, but saving this for next time when I have fewer pregnancy food restrictions, to fully enjoy!). Best Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had, with perfectly poached golden-orange yolks (I’ve only ever seen such perfect eggs before in Japan), sumptuous afternoon tea, truffled cheese soufflé, really good strong pots of Earl Grey and Mini Pu Erh Cake (!) tea, amazing fresh fish and brothy beans… all in a cozy casual living room/conservatory setting where they let you open the patio doors, or sit outdoors (very nice if you’re being extra Covid-cautious while pregnant like me)!

Esta casa solariega del siglo XII se encuentra en unos jardines privados de 1,6 hectáreas, en una bonita localidad de Devonshire, en torno al famoso menhir de South Zeal. The highlight of our trip. We stayed in the Belstone room; my husband said he felt like a King. Simon and Lyn were wonderful hosts and the meals were amazing.

Este hotel de gestión familiar ha sido galardonado y está situado en un terreno privado de 4 hectáreas, en las laderas del sur del parque nacional de Dartmoor. The food was exceptionally good. Every meal was delicious, and they were extremely cautious and accommodating toward allergies and dietary restrictions. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Locstion, breakfast, room, cleanliness, staff, attention to detail... Basically everything. Would deffo recommend it to friends and family.

Station House, Dartmoor and Coast located, Village centre Hotel se encuentra en South Brent, a 29 km de Hipódromo de Newton Abbot, y ofrece salón de uso común, habitaciones libres de humo, wifi gratis... Clean, tidy, themed, great location. Atmosphere was great, quiet and very helpful team.

Fox & Hounds Hotel, que cuenta con jardín, restaurante, bar y wifi gratis, se encuentra en Lydford, a 3 km de Lydford Castle y a 22 km de Morwellham Quay. Everything. The staff were nice, polite and helpful. The room was great. The breakfast was awesome
