This northern Espoo spa hotel is 20 minutes' drive away form central Helsinki and Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Guests have free access to a sauna, steam bath, indoor swimming pool and gym. I had booked an airport hotel as my trip was very short and I didn't want to spend too much time commuting but when this property popped up on Booking.com with a Genius discount I thought, this is a must-see! A major selling point was the free sauna, convenient location in the town where I had my business meetings and the great reviews about the breakfast. Upon arrival at Backby I was transported to a fairy like destination. The landscaping, the buildings, the air that was pure and fresh. Everything felt magical. I slept soundly in the firm single bed and enjoyed a superb breakfast buffet the next day! Even more special the sun was out in all it glory on my second day so I was able to enjoy breakfast on the terrace with a view of the lush Finnish forest. I sat outside for two hours in the sunshine enjoying a three- course breakfast of fresh berries with yoghurt, bread and pastries with sausages, and specially made hot chocolate! This place makes me want to return to Finland!

Situated amongst Espoo’s nature and Korpilampi pond, this hotel is 400 metres from Serena Water Park. It offers sauna and rooms with a flat-screen TV. Both Wi-Fi and parking are free. We really like nature and beautiful lake where hotel was! So peaceful and quiet. Very friendly staff everywhere and we really feel welcome in there. Very good breakfast and very tasty food in restaurant. We love it go to sauna and swimming pool. Sure we going back again !
