Good swimming pool. - each bed has its own fan and mosquito net. - The staff was amazing, they make you feel welcome and give you tips about things to do. In reception Adri and Enrique and the night staff were really night. IMPORTANT: After doing your booking you will receive a message to confirm your booking by paying 50%+a small car tip. This NOT a scam,i checked with booking. AND if you think you are arriving late,after 6pm tell them!! There are different rules in Colombia and they can put your room as no show if you don't confirm on the day or before that you are arriving late. Totally, worth staying here!

Herman and staff were so welcoming. We are a large group of 14, we showed up with reservations for 12. No problem, he quickly added 2 extra beds and made us feel right at home. And, that's just it, the place is really comfortable and has several areas to hang out. Peaceful jazz and ragae, a wonderful vibe.

I was at Makao in February and had a great stay! The location right on the beach is fantastic, rooms are clean, and we enjoyed the food and cocktails from the restaurant/bar. You can take surf lessons right in front of the hotel and we were able to book river tubing there as well. The staff are really friendly and helpful, special thanks to Jesús and Anderson!

Small town with access to a great beach. From there you can explore the sierra nevada or even go further north and visit la Guajira. Even though this is not the most developed town, you can find budget hotels/hostels and great food.

The only thing it has for tourism is the Waya Guajira Hotel, and i think it’s enough to stay there for one night and to stay much longer in Riohacha or Uribia if you’re planning on going to Cabo de la Vela or Punta Gallinas. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway you can definitely stay in Albania (Waya Guajira) for a week or so, since there’s nothing to do besides swimming in the pool, relaxing in the hot tubs and paying for massages.

Great, friendly hostel with helpful staff as a base before/after a tour to La Guajira. The dorm was spacious and comfortable, with small fans on top of each bed, as well as AC overnight. The rooftop restaurant bar was cute and affordable. I also booked the 3D/2N tour to La Guajira through the hostel, which was fantastic!
Amazing view over the Caribbean Sea, rooms are very nice, bathroom is amazing and it features hot water, a real luxury in La Guajira. The sound of the waves is really relaxing. The restaurant is nice but some things in the menu were not available, the hotel is fairly new so I'm sure it will improve.
Super chill and quiet place with an amazing pool and perfect beach. The staff was very helpful. Julian and Jeanne were great. There’s lots of street dogs in la Guajira and they have a few they’ve adopted and take good care after which is amazing to see compared to other hotels in the area.

Perfect place to stay in Riohacha, and to start from and to return to if you visit northern Guajira. You can readily arrange tours with their tour company for a normal price (use the booking.com chat if no-one speaks english) and then leave your luggage at the hotel.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The place is humble but got everything one’s need. Anyone visiting La Guajira needs to understand the context and have realistic expectations. They have an area with hammocks to enjoy the wind that was very nice.

We booked this place the night before going to the Guajira Tour. Very pleasant room, with air conditioning, and the swimming pool area was nice. Simple Colombian breakfast - no complaints. Placed next to the malecón.
Playa de la roca is the best eco hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The property is absolutely gorgeous, the service is kind. You could hear the ocean from the room and walk just a few meters and you were at the beach. The bathrooms are gorgeous, they clean the room well every day. The best part are the owners, a lovely family that will spiritually welcome you and revive a flame in your spirit. I can’t wait to go back to this amazing place.

Absolutely everything. I won’t go into much detail right now, but everything about the hotel was simply delightful. Food, accommodations, location, staff, and even the atmosphere of the place. Who I believe to be the manager, even went as far to personally greet every guest and go out of his way to make sure everyone feels comfortable and accommodated. The two nights my family spent there was an extremely memorable experience, and it is safe to say that La Jarorá is one of, if not the best hotel/resort I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in.
An amazing place to spend our holidays. Great beach, swimming pool, excellent service and a 15 minute walk to Palomino. There was construction work for a new restaurant which didnt cause any nuisance but will be a great addition when finished
The Hostel is perfectly located direct at the beach. The staff is one of the nicest, I have ever encountered. The surroundings at the beach are quiet and its perfect to relax!
