Clean and well arranged city. Vibrant and cultural. Parts of town feel like you are in Delhi, and ohter parts make you feel as though you are in Lhasa. The Inner Mongolia Museum is excellent. Thoroughly recommended.
Visit the Inner Mongolia Museum! You need at least 3-4 hours just for the museum, which is massive. Once you're tired out, walk across the street to the big mall (Wanda Plaza) for food and rest. Taking the bus is easy once you figure out how to read the bus stop signs, or else cabbing around is relatively reasonable. Fares start at RMB8.
We loved the town and how it was calmer. There were some nice temples and shops to visit. The Inner Mongolia Museum is amazing and I wish we could have spent more time there. You can also get trips to the grasslands or the desert. The milk candy is amazing and there is a restaurant that's all Mongolian food with camel meat, milk tea, and sheeps. Amazing food. We took the train in and out and it was amazing.
A very nice place to spend a few days. The Museum of Inner Mongolia is a treasure, highly recommended from us. We liked the city's atmosphere and food. It's easy to make a day/two days trips from there.
Try local blueberry juice and local food. Have a look at how people live in Inner Mongolia. Not many tourists go there. Very easy to get around.
