If you want to hear birds outside your bedroom window, this is the place for you. Parking is good and secure for our motorcycles - a locked compound just across the dead-end road. It is quiet. Bed was super comfy, if a little small. The layout of the various buildings, incorporate a lot of natural plants that attract the birds. The restaurant evening meal was very nice. Food is cooked and presented very well. Staff are very happy and want to make your stay a good one.

Glaciar de Roca Lofts features free bikes, outdoor swimming pool, a garden and terrace in Horcon. If you want to stay in the heart of the Elqui Valley and be nearly as remote as one can be while still having incredible WiFi - this is the spot! We spent one night here but should have booked more. The only tricky piece about this spot is getting here off the main road. While it isn’t a far distance you really should have 4WD. The road is tight and severe switchbacks. You also need to bring in food with you especially if you don’t have a car. Each unit is exquisitely designed to allow you to cook dinners indoors or out with a regular sized fridge and freezer to boot. To say this place is magical might be a vast understatement. We spent the late afternoon hiking up to the scenic lookout (although each unit has its own incredible views and privacy for late nights in the hot tub). We spent the next 2 hours by the pool which given how hot it is actually had cool water for swimming and lovely shaded lounge chairs. We brought in drinks and a pizza with us for our evening and it was perfect. We turned off all the lights and just sat outside watching the moon rise over the mountains as the sunset. After we spent hours soaking in the hotel tub watching more stars appear in the sky. Just magical! The interior is well appointed too with great bedding, linens, towels and vegan shower products that smelled and felt like luxury after having traveled for so long. For breakfast the following morning, we were brought a delicious selection of fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, croissants, cheese and more! Each unit it also outfitted with a tea pot, tea, a moka coffee maker and ground coffee! If we ever have the chance to come back to the Elqui Valley we will 1000% book this spot again! Also - be sure when in the area to book the 3 hours tour and wine tasting at vinedos de alcohauz! The guide essentially gave us the entire history of the area from different stops along the tour that changes in elevation 5 times! The vineyard is magnificent.

Hacienda Santa Cristina is a beautiful property. Upon entering, you feel like you just arrived at a private estate. There are various fruit and vegetable gardens, and multiple buildings all designed with an old-style South American charm. The property is quite large and is immaculate throughout. The rooms are situated overlooking tranquil gardens and an appealing main pool area. There is a second pool, as well as a hot tub, on the property that is near the rooms, which is very convenient. Both are well set up with chairs and are very clean, and offer food and drink services. There is a huge restaurant which adjoins the main pool where you can also dine throughout the day. In my opinion, everything written regarding this property, almost all positive, does not fully capture just how wonderful this place really is. Everything is clean and the gardens are groomed to perfection. The rooms and bathroom are spotless and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Each room has its own porch with a table and chairs. There are several vineyards within walking distance, surrounded by rolling hills, that overlook the property. The breakfast is excellent and can be served to you right in your room if you prefer. This was a nice option as we ate it on our porch each morning. The dinners were very tasty and well presented. The staff was amazing in all aspects. Every person we encountered would greet you with a warm smile and was willing to help you with anything you needed. Lastly, I want to mention the owner, Juan Pablo. He greeted us the moment we arrived and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. He was there for us the entire time and gave us many suggestions to explore Chile on the rest of our trip. All his suggestions were spot on. He could not have been nicer. I would stay here again if the opportunity arises. Just book your room and don’t worry about a thing. Juan Pablo and his professionally trained staff will take care of the rest.

Hotel Altos de Tuqui has an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, a garden and terrace in Ovalle. Breakfast was good - love that it is included - very friendly staff. I really liked the secure nature of the property - there are gates - felt very good about leaving stuff there in the room, in the car etc.
