To start with, the location is excellent. It is in the center of San Pedro de Atacama but not on the busiest street, making it a bit secluded, so it is quiet and calm in the rooms and in the garden. We stayed in winter, and the heating was on from 6 pm until early morning, so we never felt cold in the room. The common areas and the garden are very nice and well-kept. The WiFi worked very well. The room size was good for two people with two large pieces of luggage; it didn’t feel cramped, and the bed was very comfortable. Like many travelers, we appreciated the filtered water and the 24-hour coffee! The attention from the staff is exceptional. They also helped us organize the transfer to and from Calama Airport. Located in San Pedro de Atacama, 8 km from Piedra del Coyote, Hotel Desertica has a garden, as well as free WiFi. Beautiful room, lovely public spaces, with a great respect for the environment and the local style. I also liked that the hotel is small and intimate. Despite being very centrally located, the small compound feels tucked away from the buzz around it. The staff was simply wonderful.

What brilliant service, very charming and incredibly helpful people. The room was great, stylish and spacious. A very comfortable bed - we slept superbly. Excellent breakfast. My advice is that it is FAR better to self drive around the Atacama than take tours. You would only come here I think with your own hire car and that’s a good thing.

We cannot thank enough the staff of Illauca de Atacama for their kindness and help in a difficult situation. You have all been brilliant! The hostel itself is very comfortable, in a quiet part of the town, but within easily walkable distance to the centre (about 10-minute walk at normal pace). It has lovely communal areas for chilling. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise, too!

There's lots of common seating areas everywhere, indoor and outdoor. Staff are super helpful and friendly. They helped me book an affordable shared transport back to the airport on my last day that I wouldn't have been able to find/access on my own for that rate, and were super friendly/accommodating when I locked myself out of my room or safe (woops). Breakfast is very nice and goes until 11 AM which is a nice touch for those of us who like to sleep in. Beautiful desert oasis and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!
