The Hotel Waldegg - Adults only enjoys an elevated south-facing position in Engelberg. It offers panoramic mountain views, a spa area with an indoor pool, and a restaurant. From the reception, the the cleaning staff to the restaurant staff - they were absolutely fabulous! Although this is not a new hotel, it is solid with beautiful facilities that are well-maintained. The spa-area was quiet with an outside jacuzzi with views of the mountains. We could call the hotel at any time to fetch us from the town center. The restaurant on site offered to make us dinner that were not on the (Thai) menu. I hugged the girl that took us back to the station - that's how nice they are!

The traditional SPANNORT family home with common kitchen and self check-in is located right in the centre of Engelberg, close to the train station. This is a fantastic place to stay. We are a family but it would be great for any type of traveller. The shared kitchen is excellent. Extremely well-equipped and a beautiful place to prepare a meal and enjoy it with views from the large windows. The inclusion of a few sweets for guests was a nice touch. The room was very cosy and well thought-out. It has a walk in wardrobe so you can unpack and keep your hiking gear well away from the rest of the room. My son loved his bunk bed and my wife loved how immaculately clean the place was. Both of us enjoyed an evening wine on the balcony watching the moon emerge from behind the mountains. The playroom was another highlight and we had fun as a family having a go at some of the board games on offer - The Penguin game we found was super fun! It's also perfectly located. Can't speak highly enough of our experience. None of us wanted to leave!
