Set in Villavieja in the Huila region, Hostal Arámbulo features a patio and inner courtyard views. Featuring a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. The hosts were super nice. They were happy to prepare breakfast at whatever time. When she noticed I was up earlier then my partner and sitting outside the room in the rocking chair, she kindly brought me coffee. It is a nice small scale hotel and the garden is great for some relaxation.

Biohotel tatacoa Qji is set in Villavieja and has a pool with a view and garden views. There is an in-house restaurant and free private parking. An oasis in the middle of Tatacoa that makes you feel like you’re the only people in the world. Beautiful location, great pool, freshly made food, welcoming staff (Alejandro went above and beyond, helping us with transport and activities). The rooms were clean and comfortable. A special place.

Hotel Villa Paraiso is located in Villavieja. Free WiFi is available throughout the property and free private parking is available on site. the host Lily is soo friendly and helpful, I really appreciated that. She helped me organizing a tour to the desert with an amazing guide, I could stay one more night without problems and also the rest of the staff is really nice. the room was clean and the bed comfortable, it has AC, breakfast included and there is also a pool. I definitely recommend staying here!

A recently renovated guest house situated in Villavieja, LUNA DEL DESIERTO TATACOA 2DA SEDE features a shared lounge. Very peaceful place. Valerie was a very polite and friendly host. And her English was good, which is very rare in Colombia!

This place is hosted by a lovely couple who know the region by heart and give great tips on what to visit. They organise tours to visit the valley and offer a great breakfast. The rooms are super clean and have all the comfort you need. It was a great experience staying here.

Located just a 10 minutes walk outside of Villavieja, this beautiful cabin works great as a starting point for exploring the area. It has a great bed, amazing bathroom, a kitchen, a TV, air conditioning, and a laundry machine. There is a good, local restaurant almost next door where you can eat, or you can go into town.

Hotel Colonial Villavieja features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Villavieja. The property has a bar, as well as a restaurant serving local cuisine. This hotel has rooms all around a central court yard. The restaurant is in the court yard and there are beautiful plants which attract birds and give an overall look of freshness. The restaurant has powerful fans which help with the heat. Our room had an aircon, which is rare for Villavieja and Tatacoa. The beds were comfortable and although there is only cold water, it was no problem because of the heat in this area. The breakfast consisted of fruit juice, toast and eggs made to order, and coffee. It was nice and more than enough. We had lunch once and dinner twice at the hotel's restaurant and the food was delicious. We also had very good cocktails. The restaurant is open all day till 10 pm. They also have an ice cream fridge where you can buy different delicious ice creams any time of day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and some of them do speak English. We asked them to arrange our transport from Neiva airport to the hotel and to arrange a tuk tuk and guide to take us to the Grey dessert and Red dessert the day after our arrival (our only full day in Villavieja). Yeison Medina waited for us at the airport when we arrived late on a Sunday night and transported us to the hotel. He also happened to be our guide for the dessert trips. He is a professional guide at the observatory as well and he was very knowledgeable about the geology, the history and the fauna and flora of the dessert. He spoke English well enough, he was very funny and full of jokes and we had a wonderful day with him. He was also a magician with a cell phone and took very creative photos of us in the dessert. We will remember him every time we look at our holiday photos. Hotel Villavieja is definitely the obvious choice if you plan to visit the Tatacoa dessert. Don't bother to find a tuk tuk on the square or anywhere else for dessert tours, just ask the hotel to arrange it for you and hope that Yeison Medina is your guide.
