Excellent communication with the owner who was very helpful and friendly. We had made a last minute booking due to a ferry crossing cancellation so whilst I felt it was quite expensive (£120 for one night with a dog) we appreciated being able to get out of the wind and snow. The layout within the pod was cosy and the addition of hot water and heating, after two nights camping in January was frankly divine! Really appreciated there being wifi and access to various streaming platforms on the TV...we had a gorgeously lazy and snug evening listening to music and watching a film.

The last hotel on the A9, The Ferry Inn at Scrabster is newly renovated and has wonderful sea views. Just north of Thurso, Scrabster Harbour is the gateway to the Orkney Islands.

this is a great place to stay if you are catching the ferry to Stromness.
this is the second time we've stayed at the Ferry Inn. It may not be the most modern furnishings, but it is immaculately clean and very comfortable. the food is fantastic and you won't get a better breakfast !!!
the staff are always friendly and chatty.
we had a room with a view over the harbour, toiletries supplied, nice selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a lovely touch with the port.
our dogs were also made welcome.

Friendly and helpful staff, Comfy beds and nice pillows and linen. We were only here for one night and although the building is fairly old and a bit tired, it was a nice place all in all with lots of character. Beautiful view from the two windows in our room. They clearly have an ongoing maintenance programme as at this quiet time of year, in the conservatory they were revarnishing some of the tables from the restaurant which was good to see.

We love staying at The Pentland, it’s a comfortable hotel, not modern/generic, with a friendly historic atmosphere. Great breakfast included, and good food in the bar for an evening meal. Pet friendly too, with a doggie blanket and treats in the room on arrival. Very helpful staff.

We were in the quiet rooms and they were excellent. Large beautiful room and it was dog friendly. They provided dog bowls, dog treats and towel for the dog which was a nice touch. There was a good choice at the breakfast buffet. The hotel has a restaurant too
Great bed & breakfast on a beautiful property. Lovely hosts, very accommodating and showed us a seating area at the bottom of the garden where we had a picnic dinner and waited for the sunset. Great meeting all the family including the 3 dogs, sheep and especially feeding & grooming the highland cattle after breakfast. Unfortunately we did not get to see the Northern Lights but the starry sky was amazing.
Excellent location, brilliant accommodation there was nothing needed to take with us all was provided, robes, towels, showering facilities, kitchen fully assisted for cooking and very comfortable lounge area with throws, games and so much more. Outdoors also was perfect dining area with hot tub and bbq/fire pit. For us dog friendly field completely enclosed was brilliant too also fab family area for the kids.
I loved how friendly the lady who runs this place is, outstanding people skills and just the person who you want when you’re staying somewhere especially on your own. Dog friendly. Great location. Right next to the sea. Information books provided in the room. The bed was soooooo comfy. Very clean. Breakfast was delicious!
