The Malt Shovel Inn, hotel in Bridgwater

The Malt Shovel Inn is a recently renovated bed and breakfast in Bridgwater, where guests can make the most of its barbecue facilities and shared lounge.

We had booked this property because it was in a good location to visit our son at nearby Cannington College. The food was delicious, highly recommended. The good value rooms were comfortable and clean. My sons loved the pool table and rustic bar area with cosy log fire - they said they expected Gandalf or Strider from Lord of the Rings to walk in any minute. One thing to watch out for - there is another Malt Shovel Inn just a few miles down the road in Bridgwater, easily confused with this one. After a long days driving we made a mistake and went to the wrong Malt Shovel Inn first - but they don’t provide rooms.

I had exchanged messages with Mecure staff upon booking (3 months before) confirming we would have our dog with us, we received confirmation with clear information and about room service options as dogs not allowed in bar/restaurant. I liked it was dog friendly and was a good location to break up our journey from Leeds to Cornwall

The location, cleanliness, very cosy rooms, the excellent mattress ensured a good nights sleep. Pet friendly accommodation. Excellent food with reasonable prices. As we were leaving early each morning we were able to order a packed breakfast which was very tasty. We will go there again when we are in that area or nearby area for an event. We were very impressed

We had a 1 night stop over on the way to Devon. We were very happy for the stay at a reasonable price. We booked a double room with a dog. It was easy check in on a bank holiday. Contactless with staff but easy and convenient. Room was basic but clean with the use of the garden and kitchen. Everything we needed, had a little chat with the manager in the garden who was very pleasant and friendly. Would recommend everything we needed and pet friendly. Also a couple of pubs in a short walking distance Thank you for our nice stay 😀
