Great location but not what we had thought we had booked.We were under the impression we were in a caravan and not a basic pod with no toilet facilities other than the main site which was quite a walk especially if you are up through night

Such a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff in this family run hotel.
The room had everything we needed and the bed was comfy. Most importantly it was warm as we were staying on the coldest night for a decade.

My Mum and I had a lovely overnight stay at the Hope & Anchor. The accommodation is clean, homely and welcoming. I would ignore all the other negative reviews as they are completely unfair on the place and its owner. The location is beautiful and our room had an impressive sea view. I would give the accommodation 9/10 based on the price. I would certainly return in the summer months and enjoy a beer in the bar. A fantastic place all in all.

There's nothing not to like ☺️. Chris and Tony are lovely and great hosts , full of knowledge from gretna in the war to the best places to visit and eat. The guest house was spotlessly clean , comfortable and Chris's breakfast was fabulous. The train station was an added bonus , it made it easy to enjoy an evening in Carlisle with the family. There's private parking , lovely walks and it's close to our Scottish family, so we'll definitely be staying again . Just like being at home ❤️

We loved the location of the hotel, the friendliness of the staff and the room was amazing. Also they are pet friendly and we’re very accommodating to my cockerpoo Marley.
Lovely Victorian property situated not far from the main street but location very quiet. On street parking directly outside the property. Good size room with en-suite facilities. Delicious breakfast freshly made to order. Dog friendly room (but not allowed in the breakfast area).
Perfect location to many attractions around. I was so surprised they had Cinema and omg loved it so much! Also plenty of walks around so if you have a dog and want to have relaxing holiday and eat great food ( breakfast and dinner were so delicious! I had the best desert ever! ), this place is for you. Hotel is dog friendly, everyone are super nice and room was clean. Will be back again!
