Clean, comfortable, functional room, great location close to town.
Both travellers on the road and on a budget rely on motels for convenient stops with reasonable rates. Direct access to parking makes a motel an easy place to catch some sleep after a day of driving. The relatively smaller size of this accommodation type can also help to make check-in quick and easy.
The location on the Ausable Creek, and the drive from Lake Placid to the motel. The scenery and local shops, including in Keene are wonderful. And of course there's Adirondack Chocolates just up the raod.
The location was great, it was within minutes of everything we were looking to do on this visit. The rooms were neat and clean. There were several restaurants within 3 or 4 minutes of the motel.
The Hungry Trout is perfectly situated for High Peaks exploration. It is not just clean, but is delightfully done. It reminded me of one of our favorite motels in Vermont, the Innsbruck Inn. Everything was to our satisfaction. Comfortable beds. Free but secure wifi. Cable TV enabled my wife to watch the latest US Open tennis match. A nice Keurig coffee maker. An affordable Hungry Trout coffee mug as a souvenir. Very easy access from car to room and back next morning.
Older motel but nicely updated. Comfortable beds & pillows too. Extremely helpful manager. He went out of his way to accommodate my handicapped wife by changing our room to make our stay enjoyable. Wonderful pool and splash kiddy fountain. Definitely a great place to stay.
No breakfast, just coffee. This vintage motel was fine for us spending a night during a recent motorcycle trip. It was very well mantained and clean. This is not a fancy place, but we would stay there again.
Location, cleanness, amenity, and the price. The view to the mountain is fantastic with morning sunlight - you could see on the opposite of the street outside the motel. Very close to the Whiteface Mountain - the must-see attraction in Fall and many other trails. The motel policy complies with the pandemic practice so we felt safe to stay here.
