We have stayed at several "budget" motels in Santa Barbara (if there is such a thing there!)
This was by far the best, small, recently remodeled (at least our room was), and the man in the office was extremely pleasant.
This motel is located on Santa Barbara's waterfront, only one block from Stearns Wharf. The inn offers a danish and coffee each morning and views of the ocean and surrounding mountains.
Carpinteria State Beach is less than 10 minutes’ drive from this motel. The nonsmoking rooms feature cable TV with HBO. An outdoor pool and hot tub are included.
Both travelers on the road and on a budget rely on motels for convenient stops with reasonable rates. Direct access to parking makes a motel an easy place to catch some sleep after a day of driving. The relatively smaller size of this accommodation type can also help make check-in quick and easy.
Fantastic stay ! Very convenient location - steps from the beach. Very kind staff too. Bravo to motel 6 for protecting the planet by not having amenities and plastic cups. It’s time to change our habits in hotels too.
Bit far from downtown but definitely walkable. They have free parking, free wifi, nice clean rooms, some bikes that you may rent if you want, they is an Ihop very close by too :)
On the road . We stayed there overnight during our coastal route . The location of the property is ideal . It is basically a motel but good one . Do have pool .serves breakfast , beds were comfortable .

Quiet, comfortable, clean and with good heating on a chilly night, but most of all a beautifully restored classic 1962 Motel 6, apparently the first ever. Lovely sea view from our room, free parking, close to some good eating places and to the zoo, and with kind and helpful reception staff. Didn't use the pool but it looked quiet and clean. Nice neighbourhood. Excellent value.
Both the room and the bathroom were very clean, spacious bedroom and shower, the person in the reception was very nice, easy checkin, very close to the beach (only 1 min walking!), quiet area, they offer free coffee and juice in the mornings (6-10am), free parking in the motel
