I loved this motel. It was so quaint and well looked after. Our room was spotlessly clean. The lady at reception (sorry I've forgotten your name!)was really friendly, welcoming and answered all our questions about the area. Great location away from the busier parts of the Great Smokys. Only a short drive from the spectacular Waterrock knob trail and overlook. Beautiful sunsets. Also near the spectacular Soco Falls. There was a really lovely creek at the back of the motel with somewhere to sit and relax. We also met the dogs!

You should state up front that you are a motorcycle MOTEL, certainly not a Hotel!!! All the time, bikers are riding in & around the place, revving their bikes, playing loud music. Even after complaining, nothing changed. There is no rest, no peace. Room was never cleaned. Breakfast bar was very poorly stocked, out of all bread products. Eggs were cold. Pool looked murky. Never stay there unless you are a biker & enjoy all that noise!!!

I had a very nice stay. The room was cozy and comfortable. King bed very comfy, and everything was good. Castlewood is a very small motel, but it is a quaint and comfortable place, with rockers outside the room to relax in the evening, and a small swimming pool, nice and clean. The hosts are a family who live on site, and they will tend to your every need. I definitely will stay here again next time I visit Maggie Valley!

The price was extremely reasonable. The room was exceptionally clean and looks like it has been renovated in the last couple of years. In older motels, bathrooms can be a bit sketchy, but they were great here. The location is also convenient to Lake Junaluska. Less than a 10 minute drive. Check-in was also quite easy.

The rooms are nice...clean and well maintained. Way better than I expected for the price. The stream behind the motel with a fire pit and outdoor lounge makes for a relaxing evening. The restaurant on the property is also excellent. No need to search for a good place to eat. I also liked the convenience of being a short distance from the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum.

    - Moderately quaint motel with ski chalet-like entrance lobby including small library (mediocre dated and religious books) - includes on site restaurant/bar. - Bar has a trivia competition capably run - wood flooring in room - gas fireplace with extremely short duration timer - small river behind motel past utility areas
