The owner made us very welcome and was extremely helpful in booking our water taxis for our walk the next day and advising about where to eat. The chalet was one of the best equipped we have been in and very clean. Great location for getting to Abel Tasman park - right next door to water taxis.

Darren is a great host - we enjoyed talking with him. The location was ideal for access to the activities in the town. We enjoyed walking to the places we wanted to visit. The rooms were clean and comfy, outlook on to the street.
Both travelers on the road and on a budget rely on motels for convenient stops with reasonable rates. Direct access to parking makes a motel an easy place to catch some sleep after a day of driving. The relatively smaller size of this accommodation type can also help make check-in quick and easy.
This is a well-located motel in the center of Takaka - do not mistake it for the resort of a similar name down the road (Google Maps almost fooled me!). The 3-bedroom apartment was spacious and well-equipped. We even had an air fryer to use! The room was well-furnished and decorated. Now I wish we had stayed longer than just one night. The contactless check-in and check-out system works well, and our brief contact with the staff was brilliant. Very friendly!
Booking and check-in a breeze.
This is an older-style motel, but it has:
*great cooking facilities.
*convenient location close to supermarket and cafes.
*easy parking
*adequate wifi
*good TV
*clean, cosy and well maintained
*comfy bed
I can't believe one motel can be so neatly managed and wonderfully organised. I bet the owner must love the house so much that he put tremendous effort to keep it clean, organised or even sophisticated.
It is a big garden we are living in. Not far from the town centre, easy to find, and wonderful to stay in.
The stars are also great if you want to stay late and watch the sky.
Will definitely stay again next time.
Loved the motel & the floor to ceiling glass in the bedroom out to the peaceful garden. The motel was very quiet despite being located just off of the main road. Lisa, at reception was awesome & brought us a portable gas weber bbq to prepare our dinner. We liked everything about this motel, free washing machine for guests + it was very convenient & close to Takaka center. We'll definitely stay here again.
The 1-bdrm unit was super spacious and had lots of sunny spots for drying the clothes.. We had a little semi-private patio with table and chairs. The shower was good and there was a separate room for the toilet (luxury, no manoeuvring around the basin to go to the loo). Our host Lisa was friendly and helpful. The motel was a short, flat walk from the cafés.
