On a recent 9 hotel visit to NZ this hotel was the cheapest yet up the top with the 3 "big name" hotels we used. My wife and I could not fault the room (named after a past NZ racehorse) nor the entry and general "feel" of the place. Unfortunately it was not well occupied (3 rooms all up) when we went which we found very surprising. That probably was the reason the restaurant and bar were shut. The bar was adjacent to the reception and it looked a very inviting place to relax after our drive from Wellington. I wish the proprietor a deservedly good future. It has free parking which is always welcome (although as a "smaller" NZ town possibly all the hotels are similar).

The location, the staff was very nice, the room itself very pretty and the facilities were clean and all the accessories were there for even a long stay, which we didn't utilise.
Parking right next to the room is also very fun.

We got a warm welcome and given an orientation of the property and facilities.
The reception staff was very attentive and answered all our questions and even sorted a room close to reception for an easier checkout.
The suite was clean, had everything we needed and was cosy and warm. The internet was blistering fast and the room had a great 50 inch television which was a boon on a cold evening.
With free WiFi and free parking, Greyfriars Motel is located in the heart of the Greytown Heritage area. Guests can relax on the private patio with lovely garden views.

Both travelers on the road and on a budget rely on motels for convenient stops with reasonable rates. Direct access to parking makes a motel an easy place to catch some sleep after a day of driving. The relatively smaller size of this accommodation type can also help make check-in quick and easy.

The motel is well located in the Kuripuni area of the small town. We found cafes, restaurants and even a small movie theatre nearby. However, it's also easy walking or driving to the main part of town.
The rooms are quite spacious. The kitchen was quite useful, we were able to cook for ourselves a couple of times. The bathroom could probably do with a small upgrade, however it was clean, spacious and certainly fit for purpose.
Motel experience. Apartment had two bedrooms and a sofabed. Management was responsive when we discovered the sofabed did not have sheets. Parking spaces right in front of unit.
