Location was nice and central. The host was very helpful friendly in answering my questions pre stay. The amenities in the rooms were quite good for the price.
Both travellers on the road and on a budget rely on motels for convenient stops with reasonable rates. Direct access to parking makes a motel an easy place to catch some sleep after a day of driving. The relatively smaller size of this accommodation type can also help to make check-in quick and easy.

Fantastic view of the mountains from our room. Perfect location. You can tell the owners/managers take pride in their property by all the little things they got right. There's a long patio, a good bathroom with sufficient space for storage and plenty of hot water. Beds were very comfortable and had two spacious end tables with 4 plugs by each table. Most motels have tiny trash cans that need to be emptied daily or more often, but here they had a big one, as all should. Friendly, helpful staff.
Free parking right outside our apartment; easy access to the apartment (we were allocated a ground floor apartment which helped with getting our luggage in when it was pouring with rain!); apartment was spotlessly clean; modern; well furnished; warm; and had everything we needed for our one night stay. Wish we had booked for longer!
We always stay here when in Kaikoura. Older motel which has been refurbished. Beds are very comfortable and location is excellent. Great value for money.

Beautifully renovated self-contained motel unit.
Very clean. Big shower, well appointed kitchen and comfortable living area.
Good communication from manager with contactless check in. No need for keys as digital lock on the door.
Lovely sound of the sea good view of ocean from my motel, very clean motel, warm.heating, good TV, modern kitchenette and modern bathroom. Great powerful shower
Wanted a getaway for peace and quiet due to busy work commitments. Kaikoura gateway motor lodge certainly delivered in that department. The beds were Sooo comfortable (not to hard, not to soft) . The BBQ area is a bonus as well as the pool use during your stay. Would have liked to have a room with a view, however, the view entering and exiting the motel made up for it, with a stunning view of the mountains and beach. Would definitely stay again.
