Looking for a motel?
Both travellers on the road and on a budget rely on motels for convenient stops with reasonable rates. Direct access to parking makes a motel an easy place to catch some sleep after a day of driving. The relatively smaller size of this accommodation type can also help to make check-in quick and easy.

Very relaxed and family friendly, well equipped kitchen, free parking. Renting a car in this area was useful to get around.

A motel-like accommodation not too far from Nikko. The room was spacious and clean, other than the old building smell.

This is a lovely, brand new, well designed hotel, in a modern meets Japanese style with nicely designed and comfortable rooms. None too specious if you have large suitcases but fine, you didnt come to Nikko to sit in a room all day ;). Plenty of free parking space if you have a rental car. By car, the Toshogu shrine is 10 minutes away, maybe 15 if you get stuck behind some touring cars.

Small, clean traditional ryokan with 2 onsens: 1 bigger and 1 smaller. Everybody can use them privately whenever they wish during the time slots 5.00-11.00 and 15.00‐23h00). Very nice people - they gave us the map of the town and offered to visit some very nice places that we had not heard about previously (a park of stone budas) and tried hard to explain about the weather on mount Nantai:-) Impecably clean shared restrooms, a very wide choice of bathroom amenities, free tea and coffee is also available. Free parking at the door.

The house was very well organized, clean and tidy with enough space for the three of us. Close to the main street but not on the road, so was very quiet. Since we only stayed for 2 nights, we didn't require the cleaning of the room and we got a small present for each one of us instead. The location is walking distance from the JR train station and from the world heritage site. Our host accompanied us to the train station when we left.
