This is a bare budget motel, and it has definitely seen. better days. having said that, it was clean and we knew this would be the case going in. There are limited places to stay in Port Hardy, and we had people we wanted to see.

Breakfast was very good, good selection including homemade muffins, served on proper tableware - no paper or plastic. Very good coffee. Whole hotel recently renovated in beautiful style. Stunning lobby with huge timbers in the indigenous longhouse style, coast native art. Style extended to the rooms. Beds extremely comfortable, bathroom modern and well appointed. Staff professional and authentically friendly.

The location was convenient to the ferry, which arrived 11:45 PM. That’s the main reason we chose the motel. The clerk was ready for the 5 or 6 ferry customers who arrived simultaneously and quickly assigned rooms.

Very convenient for the airport, and Bernie couldn’t have been more helpful. A hugely warm welcome, good breakfast and the sort of facilities you’d expect of a budget motel.

This place is under new management. The New owner checked us in late the evening we arrived and was there when we left at 6:00 a.m. the next morning. The place has a rundown appearance, but the new owner is doing his best to make your stay a good one. The past owner let the place go down hill so he (the new owner) is reopening one room at a time as each room meets his approval. It is about a five minute drive to the ferry. I would recommend this motel.

Kwa’lilas is a very decent modern hotel - well run, clean, organised, great Wi-Fi, with friendly, helpful staff….everything you want on a trip. It’s a little pricier than some of the motel options but it’s worth the extra in my opinion. My room was spotless and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was a bonus - it wasn’t mentioned to me when booking. And the attached pub had some good beers and served excellent food - something else which I didn’t expect.

This is a typical Canadian small community motel - nothing spectacular, but everything you need to sleep for a night is there. The location is about 10 minutes driving time from the ferry terminal. The restaurant officially closes at 20:00, but they were still kind enough to serve us when we arrived maybe 15 minutes before closing time.
