I was looking for some peace & quiet, and this place delivered! It was fairly full but I didn’t hear any noise from other units. The balcony overlooking the pool is excellent to sit on and eat a meal. The insect-mesh sliding door is a bonus too, allowing you to wake up to the sound of birds tweeting, without getting bitten by mozzies! The room is well kitted out and even has a big electric frypan. The neighbourhood is quiet, and there are local shops and restaurants within walking distance.
Tea Gardens Motel is a 2-hour drive from Sydney and a 1-hour drive from Newcastle. The property is a 1-hour drive from Nelson Bay, or you can take the ferry from Tea Gardens to Nelson Bay.

Room was very spacious and clean. Parking was out the front of room so easy to unpack and pack. Pool was nice and clean. Easy access to bowling club for drinks and a meal.

The only positive was the location reasonably close to town.
Both travellers on the road and on a budget rely on motels for convenient stops with reasonable rates. Direct access to parking makes a motel an easy place to catch some sleep after a day of driving. The relatively smaller size of this accommodation type can also help to make check-in quick and easy.
For a little motel this is the loveliest I’ve ever stayed in.
It’s obviously had a makeover and whoever did it deserves a huge compliment.
So clean fresh and bright. Simple but lovely decor.
THANKYOU. We’ll be back.
PS The local bowlo was fantastic too. Raffles, food, drink excellent and at real old fashioned club prices.
i liked the fact that there was a minibar and milk and snacks if I needed them plus real coffee and coffee pot. Bed was great and so clean and comfy. Although many would think the whole place was really very nineties and needed an upgrade because all the creature comforts were met I was very appreciative as I arrived late and it was dark and the motel room was inviting.
I arrived late but Damien made it very easy for me to check in late.
The motel is a pretty standard motel vibe but the room felt very clean and comfortable with good quality linen.
The locationn was quiet.
Freshly painted, renovated and beautifully prepared older style motel room. Really comfortable bed, quality bed linen and pillow. Super clean! For those who require quiet to sleep….this is the place.
Lovely little older motel that has been thoughtfully refreshed and was very comfortable and quiet. Undercover parking at the front door is a bonus. Friendly and welcoming owner who communicated very well before, during and after our stay. We will make this one of our regular stop-overs from now on.
