The host was very friendly and welcoming. He was respectful and gave us space but had lots of very good suggestions which we enjoyed.
He even helped us to set up the bbq pit and get it going so we could bbq, and there were lots of groceries and things that were provided.
The facilities are generous: can take 12 guests comfortably with two shower rooms and 4 WCs
The place is quiet with easy parking and within short drive (less than 30 minutes) of major outdoor adventure locations. Its a great base camp for outdoor activities.
I would love to come again in a different season and see all that minakami has to offer!
Tsumagoi
Units at the lodge are fitted with a flat-screen TV, double height living room, spacious dining area and terrace. A fully equipped kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator and stovetop. You will find a private bathroom with a large bath. 2 Western-style bedrooms and a Japanese-style bedroom are provided. The property is very nice. It was not too far off from most things. we were able to make breakfast and dinners with comfort for our large family.

Surrounded by lush mountains in Minakami, Tenjin Lodge is just a 5-minute walk from Tenjindaira Snow Resort Ropeway and JR Doai Station. Activities like rafting, hiking and canoeing can be enjoyed in the area. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the property. Comfy room / good dry room / staff were excellent
Tsumagoi
Located in a quiet area, Shurin offers various private cottages with a terrace, garden views and free Wi-Fi in public areas. The cottages come with a living area, 2 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a dining area. The staff were very friendly. Free coffee available in the morning from theFree coffee available in the morning from the main cabin. The BBQ set was complete
loved the location. surrounded by nature and scenic beauty. Loved the conversation with the owner who also suggested nearby sightseeing places. Great guy. Restaurants, convenient stores available in 3-5km range, one just next to the lodge.
An incredible experience up in the mountains! We stayed for one night, which for us was the perfect amount to experience the onsen and traditional rooms. The hotel make travel to the remote area easy for people coming by train, and arranging a spot on their free mini bus was easy beforehand. The food was lovely, and the staff were all incredibly kind, explaining how the outside onsen work. My partner is also over 6ft, and there were yukata and slippers that worked for him - he just had to remember to duck :)!
The lodge manager is a super chill dude,despite arriving very late, he managed to cook me up a nice dinner. The lodge can be reachable via Joetsu JR if you get off at 土合駅 Doai station, and if would more than ideal if you can drive. Be wary of that the doai station has a long underground tunnel that would take you 8 minutes even if run down stairs.
Very welcoming, especially since my first stay in traditional Japanese lodging.
Tenjin Lodge is easy to get to, has welcoming staff, and proximity to mind blowing winter terrain. It's a great value when all is considered and the meals are as delicious as their restaurant recommendations in Minakami. We had a great time and will be back!
there’s onsen until next day 11am and the lodge house flooring is warm.
Kieren was a great host, Dinner and Breakfast was great. The atmosphere of the Lodge was exactly what I was looking for. I'm for sure booking another trip and will be staying here.
Close to Tanigawa Ropeway and snowshoeing to Ichinokura-gawa, Tenjin Lodge is a great place to stay in the Mount Tanigawa area. The rooms are comfortable and the owners and staff are really helpful as well.
Beautiful high-end camping location. Lodge has everything you could have asked for. Very clean and beds were super comfy. BBQ set outside ready to be used and fireplace was also amazing.
