I can not speak highly enough of this incredible little sanctuary. The fact of it being a family run facility does not compromise on the quality of service, it only adds to it.
Should apply for a star rating because it's right up there with 5 star estates.
Incredible place,we can't wait to return.

Unbelievably stunning location, views across the unspoilt bush landscape from rooms and terraces are unbeatable.
Great food, and wonderful dining room / terrace / lounge meant meals were a relaxed delight.
Extremely welcoming and engaging staff and hosts.
The two dawn game walks we did are now right up there in the highlights of my life.
Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
Location and Lodge is stunning, staff very welcoming and helpful, breakfast excellent. only stayed one night as was stopover but will definitely return.
We stayed at Tugela River Lodge during the Berg&Bush mountain bike race. It is pefectly located near the race village and offers comfortable accomodation. Thanks Julian and Rox for a great stay.
Spion Kop lodge is set in immaculate grounds with a beautiful swimming pool. Our bedroom was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Food was excellent. Staff friendly and efficient. The lodge has so much history and we really enjoyed our half day battle field tour with Richard. We would highly recommend a stay if you want to experience an authentic and peaceful stay in this beautiful part of South Africa.
The most beautiful view from the living area. Unpretentious lodging with everything you need for a couple of days' stay in the cottages. Enough wall plugs, conveniently placed.
Very peaceful, yet close enough to everything in the area.
A magnificent and peaceful setting with incredible staff and hosts. The room was very clean and comfortable and the meals were excellent.
The highlight of the stay was the half-day "Battlefields" trip to Spioen Kop and Mount Alice provided by our host/guide, Raymond Herron. Incredible!
For bird enthusiasts, the bird life is prolific.
All in all Spioen Kop Lodge is highly recommended and we look forward to a return trip.
Our thanks to all.
The cottage is in a really beautiful location, with breathtaking views. It is really well maintained and a peaceful breakaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. It really has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is a nice lodge with an amazing restaurant next door - pizza and cocktails come highly recommended.
Everything is made with so much passion and love. Couldn’t be better.
The staff is so friendly and helpful. The lodge is situated very nice and surrounded by a beautiful environment. I will definitely come again.
Really exceptional! What a wonderfull place. We had a lovely time staying with Marie. The nature surrounding is just amazing. From the lodge there are multiple walking routes with lovely views! And we even saw some zebra's.
This is a great place to sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular views that this place offers. We hope to return one day and spent more time using Tugela River Lodge as a base to explore the area. Thanks!
