River Bend Lodge, hotel in Addo

Located on a private concession within the malaria free Addo Elephant National Park, River Bend Lodge offers luxury accommodation, spa facilities and private game drives. Free WiFi is available.

We stayed at Lodge for 3 nights at the end of November, chosing the "All Inclusive" package. It was the best adventure and the best place we stayed during our trip through South Africa. Leo, our tour guide, has showed, explained and I jetted into us the wholesome approach to safari. You could feel like a carefree child that went on adventure to discover. We wish every tour guide could show to its guests such an excepcional respect towards the animals. Leo transforms such kindness, that at the end of the day you feel extremely rewarded by seeing every little living on safari, inuding birds, elephants, monkeys - all living wild and free. In the breaks, we could learn so much by having just a casual conversation with him. We really felt like being invited to magnificent kingdom of the animals, without feeling like some random intruders. A beating heart of this place is Debbie: what an outstanding manger. You "don't see her, don't hear her", but she is there and she keeps and eye on everything, ensuring such a comfortable stay for the guests. Debbie just transmits calmness, kindness, warmth, and professionalism. It was a real pleasure know her. The amazing Crew of the Lodge gives you a total family vibe. They winked an eye at us every time they left us a nice surprise in the form of flower petals or chocolates. Everything from warm towels to wipe our hands, through tasty meals (delicious soups!), was full of kindness and joy of hosting us. From warm welcome to a family-like farewell (followed by messages to check our further progress on the road) - everything was such a beautiful sign of being human that I came back completely refreshed. Enjoy every second of staying at the Lodge. Go out on adventure. Admire the nature with the respect and curiosity of an explorer. Feel fresh air on your face. Eat boldly and healthily. Relax in silence. Enjoy the polite, interesting conversations with wonderful people.

Hitgeheim Country Lodge, hotel in Addo

Situated on a secluded eco-reserve, Hitgeheim Country Lodge is an owner-managed lodge offering daily open safari vehicle drives into the Addo Elephant National Park where guests may experience viewing...

The staff were amazing - very helpful. They have a system where staff are notified once you "check in" for breakfast and dinner and they then clean your room and provide a turn down service during this time (genius) so you get back to your room with a very nice surprise. The Ado safari was acceptable but the Scotia safari was the highlight of the trip - try to get Scott as your guide (he has over 30 years experience and we have never been able to get this close to any of the big 5 before, especially given its baby season in Dec and there are baby animals everywhere). The boma dinner at the end of the Scotia safari is wonderful - great food and you mingle with something like 40 other patrons over dinner from all over the world. We booked the family room, which was very spacious with very good bathroom amenities. Breakfast was very good and well catered for. They have some of the best coffee I have had in a while.

Chrislin African Lodge, hotel in Addo

Just 12 km from the Addo Elephant Park, these African style huts have luxurious interiors and a shared swimming pool.

Our stay at Chrislin African Lodge was absolutely wonderful! From start to finish, we had an amazing time filled with exciting activities organized in collaboration with Crisscross Adventures. Ivy and the rest of the staff were incredibly friendly, always making us laugh and going out of their way to accommodate our requests, which truly elevated our experience. The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, with comfortable beds that ensured a great night’s sleep. Each room was equipped with air conditioning, making it perfect for relaxing after a day of activities. We especially loved the outside area, which offered stunning views of the beautiful garden and farm—a perfect spot to unwind. The breakfasts were well-organized and delicious, while the dinners were nothing short of divine. The campfire evenings and the refreshing swimming pool added a magical touch, making our stay unforgettable. If you're planning a visit to Addo, look no further than Chrislin. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a sunrise game drive in the morning, relax by the pool in the afternoon, and even embark on a memorable boat tour in Colchester. Highly recommended!

Best lodge! So welcoming and friendly! Our room was a dream, with lots of nice African destsils. Dinner and breakfast were delicious! But most incredible are the giraffes! A safari with Kerneels is simply the best… you learn how to approach the giraffes etc. his enthusiasm after 17 years of being with giraffes is amazing and contagious. We want to come back!
