Ideal for nature lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and have kitchen facilities. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than vacation homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
This beautifully restored and furnished lodge is quite the feather Montrose should be proud of. Our room was beautifully furnished and adequate for our needs. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch to eat our breakfast under the aspens.
Frank was fabulous and helpful. The property is historic and nicely renovated into a lodge. The bathroom situation is a little non-traditional with sinks being in the sleeping area and tiny, slightly outdated showers, but overall, a really cool place to stay and check out. I recommend it!
Our rooms (each with a king size bed) were large and comfortable. The lodge is in a nice rural setting that is not too far from Montrose; in fact is closer to sightseeing destinations such as Ouray and Telluride. It has a lot of character from its history as a school. It would be great for a group needing 7-9 rooms such as a family reunion or wedding party.
Sandra and Frank were fabulous hosts, very friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Room was very clean and food restaurant quality. The view from the lodge outstanding.
Lovely old school converted into this lodge. Huge common room with ice maker & game tables and comfortable leather couches & chairs. Keyless entry meant we never did see the owner, but he was prompt with reply when we texted with questions. The room was spacious and the entire place was decorated with period pieces and modern conveniences. Bed was comfortable and shower was good.
Beautiful views of the San Juans. Very comfortable, clean, luxurious room. Frank takes a lot of pride in his lodge and cooks you a farm to table fresh breakfast in morning. Can hear the wildlife while you sleep. Wonderful walking trails along side the farm animals and friendly house dogs. My favorite was looking at the mountains while sitting on the porch deck, watching the hummingbirds buzz by. Such a beautiful, unique lodge, can’t wait to be back!
We were on a weeklong roadtrip in Colorado. We stayed in a different location each night. Stay Wise was the best of all our lodgings. Very nice hotel and delicious breakfast. A wonderful find for us.
We made reservations several months in advance and then the property manager canceled on us because an entire wedding party wanted to stay at the lodge. Do they not know the meaning of the word reservation??! We were put in the position of having to find a place at the last minute.
