Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
The view across Kachemak Bay is gorgeous. The breakfasts were delicious....especially the crepes. Marcia and Mannfried were lovely hosts. They gave us great tips for our stay in Homer. Marcia provided a take away breakfast when we had an early excursion, which was so thoughtful. We enjoyed meeting the guests who came from around the world to stay at Juneberry Lodge and enjoy all Homer has to offer.
We stayed in one of the lodges at this resort and absolutely loved that it was right on the beach. We could go right outside our patio door and be on the beach in seconds.
Fantastic bed and breakfast. The hosts Marsha and Mannfried were wonderfully friendly with lots of tips about things to see and do in the area. The lodge itself was beautifully decorated and the breakfasts were fantastic! We stayed 3 nights and had great different breakfasts each morning. Great view of the mountains and bay from the lodge
This is my second stay at the Red Door Lodge. I really enjoy the "shaggy"/slightly unconventional vibe of this place, and the friendly folks who work and stay there-and the two affectionate cats roaming the grounds. The location is very convenient to much of what you'd want to do in Homer, with some good views. We had two rooms for our group of 4, and they were clean and comfortable.
Juneberry Lodge is in a great isolated location on the hillside, overlooking the mountain encircled bay. The hosts, Marcia and Mannfried, are a delightful and friendly couple, giving us local information and tons of useful advice, and feeding us delicious Mannfried-cooked breakfasts.
This is not your cookie cutter lodging. We got in late and left first thing so I didn't have a lot of time to fully explore the property. It was rather eclectic but had a nice charm to it.
We ended up staying 4 nights instead of 2 and are so glad that we did. Marcia & Mannfried were exceptional hosts and the Juneberry Lodge is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Marcia had exceptional recommendations of things to do in the area -- and we did them all! Mannfried made WONDERFUL breakfasts that were presented beautifully on their outdoor deck. We met people from Israel, Germany & Switzerland who were staying there too. This was our favorite place we stayed on our entire 2-1/2 week trip in Alaska.
Very friendly & helpful staff / owner. The place was Amazing & had everything we needed already there. Booking was fast & easy, Checking in & out was fast & easy. Very Happy with My Experience with Otter Beach Lodges
