Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
Our stay at Alaskan Dream Lodge was truly enjoyable. The lodge itself is clean, cozy, and perfect for accommodating a family of six. The hostess was incredibly friendly and hospitable, making us feel warmly welcomed throughout our stay.
Very nice old lodge with the bed and breakfast feel. There were many rooms and also had cabins that people could stay in that were very nice. There were quite a few places to walk around and see nature and wildlife.
Great old style lodge accommodation right on the Chena River.it's quirky and eccentric in an Alaskan style with stuffed bears and antique artworks. Ideal for seeing northern lights - you even get wake-up calls when they are dancing across the sky. Free breakfast (although basic) is filling and an easy start to the day. Much nicer than the corporate hotels in the town.
A very "Alaskan" lodge with character. I stayed on night in an "Aurora View" room prior to a three night stay in a comfy cabin. Comfortable common areas and the theatre room showing an old but interesting Aurora doco was good. Breakfast basic but suitable. The restaurant/bar a walk across the parking area was good. Great location not far from the airport and free shuttle. If the aurora was showing it would be a perfect location but alas cloudy and snowing when I visited.
I traveled with my granddaughter. The room was cozy and very clean. Fred and Janet were excellent hosts! The lodge is close to Fairbanks but far enough away to see the beautiful night sky. Janet was wonderful about waking you up to view the Northern Lights. I would definitely recommend staying there!
Frank and Janet were excellent host! We saw the northern lights two out of four nights due to the cloudy conditions. Janet knocked on our door when they were overhead! She kept track of its location and intensity until 2am every night. Frank made the most delicious breakfasts- quiche, sausage sandwiches, oatmeal, fresh fruit and coffee etc. the lodge itself felt like home, equipped with sleds, snow shoes and trekking poles. Everything you need and more! Highly recommend!! Thanks again!
This place is fantastic! The hosts are very friendly and knowledgeable for anything you need. There is a lot of thought put into your comfort in the rooms and in provisions to help you enjoy activities around the lodge. Homemade breakfast items were beautiful. Fantastic to mix with other guests and share experiences but by far the BEST was the aurora service! A wake up service but also support and encouragement to get the best view and pictures.
I loved the lodge feel in the communal areas. It was great they had tables and games where we could come together. Being right next to the river super (even though it was frozen) and offering an Aurora wake up call perfect. Also having a fun and good restaurant next door really convenient.
