This place is outstanding! Highly, highly recommend! The lodge and rooms are clean and comfortable (if you are going in winter, bring warm clothes). The food is buffet style and very good, and is culturally relevant! My daughter (17) chooses not to eat a lot of food, and she was always able to find something - rice, chicken, plain rolls). Your group is assigned a guide, who is present when you are picked up at the airport, on all excursions and accompanies you to the airport when you leave. That makes for an in-depth experience on your excursions as the guide knows your group’s interests, and the information about the jungle previously shared with you. Just this alone is worth the cost. We loved the Macaw clay lick experience. Seeing the brightly colored birds in a flock - incredible. The night walk we did twice, and saw a tarantula as big as my hand, all kinds of spiders, a poisonous centipede, scorpion. There are different kinds of monkeys all around the lodge and on the excursions. In our last day, an eagle (an apex predator) was in the neighborhood, and all the monkeys came down from the trees to be safe. So cool.

Excellent location, views, and overall very special jungle experience! To be expected, there were lots of ants, mosquitoes, and other bugs, but it was manageable. We loved our stay!!

Great location on the banks of the river with lots of wildlife around to watch even between activities. Very clean rooms, amnesties and lodge facilities. The pool was such a great relief from the heat and a great place to watch animals pass by. Wonderful food and fantastic staff! Our guide, Chris was the absolute best and he made our stay extra special!

Everything! But most of all, we were treated so well by Manuel and his family who own the lodge. They cooked the most delicious, healthy, mostly organic meals. They took us on a walking tour of their farm nearby. The tours they sent us on were all wonderful and we saw lots of wildlife. The cabin was very clean, cool, comfortable with hot water and good wifi. Falling asleep to the sound of the water and having a direct view of the river while lying in bed was such a treat. We could have easily stayed longer and would love to be back. It felt more like a home stay than a lodge, which we loved, especially since we were traveling with our young daughter. It was also very helpful that Manuel picked us up himself from the airport. He and his family went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Thank you so much!
Ideal for nature lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and have kitchen facilities. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than vacation homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
The whole place was perfect! The location deep in the jungle is very special. The lodges are very spacious and well maintained. The food was ALL delicious! Our group of six commented at each meal how great the food was. It felt like an authentic experience and the staff was welcoming.
Highly recommend!
I enjoyed the ambiance, location and the facilities. The staff and guides were exceptional in every way and I enjoyed getting to know a few people who work at the lodge. The meals were lage portions, I normally could not finish the dishes provided.
We loved everything! Lodge and rooms, hosts, food, tour guide, transport were all brilliant!
A fantastic once-in-a-lifetime trip that was well organized and good value for money.
So cool to see the good they're doing at the rescue center too! You can really feel the love for the Amazon here.
Location was beautiful. Transfers were slick and easy. We had an incredible guide, Rafael who was friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Days are fully planned out with plenty of activities Food was basic but nice with well stocked bar. Lodges and site very pretty and comfortable, lit by candle.
We actually stayed at Posadas Amazonas and were pleasantly surprised by all the wildlife that we saw, even right at the lodge. the staff was very accommodating and the food was delicious.
Top experience! Our guide, Alejandro, was super professional, very interesting excursions. Staff at lodge is very friendly, with personal approach. Lodges are in good condition, with everything you need.
The lodge is more beautiful than the pictures make out. There is a great atmosphere. We visited with three children (two of which are teenagers). We went for the most basic programme which means you have a guide with you almost all the time - we did an evening walk, a canopy walk, a visit to the rescue centre and a cayman search. Our kids enjoyed the place very much.
Our guide, Johan, was amazing and he did everything to show us the beauty of Tambopata. We saw plenty of wildlife, you won't be disappointed if you decide to go here. But do not take the rare animals for granted. In terms of facilities, the lodge's common areas are great, including the bar and the hammock area. Food was great as well, with plenty of vegetarian, fresh options. Our room was tiny and less comfortable than in Refugio Amazonas. But again, come for the wildlife and the beauty of the Amazonas, not for the room.
