This property is really a hostel; not an ecolodge or b&b. The property is uphill at the end of the road, so if you have luggage it would be a tough hike uphill. The stairs, carpeted were not clean. The room is cold and not heated though they give you a thick blanket so you will feel cold and only warm in the room until you go in bed. The sink water is cold and the shower heats up after a little while.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Sanctuary Lodge! The place is beautiful, the staff is super friendly and helpful, the food and drinks were delicious, and being steps away from Machu Picchu was magical. It was very expensive, but it was worth the splurge. It was absolutly luxurious, from being met at the train in Agua Caliente and seen off there a few days later. Shout out to Jorge, Eddie, Sebastian, and all the other staff at the Sanctuary Lodge. They were exceptional.

Very thoughtful, Even though it’s super easy to find (right off the main square) they contacted me prior to arrival and met us at the train station to show us the way to the lodge. Our room was huge and lovely, and we had our own private balcony, a refuge to read and sip coffee far above the tourist chaos of Aguas Caliente

A fabulous treetop lodge. Lots of stairs to reach the property but not a problem for us...and we were rewarded with fabulous view of the town and mountains. Our beds were outstanding and had amazing sheets. The shower was the best of our month long trip. Breakfast (5am) was perfectly cooked eggs and yogurt, cheese, bread etc. Excellent. This was a perfect place to stay in the town. They also arranged a guide for us for Machu Picchu and that was excellent, as well. I highly recommend to anyone who doesn't have an issue with stairs.

One of the most magical experiences I have had. The concierge John Pizzaro was a tremendous help, from the minute of my arrival until my departure. I strongly recommend all visitors to the Sanctuary Lodge at Machu Picchu to request John by name, for a a truly worry free and convenient visit.

We felt like we were in cozy nest above the town. We had a glitch with hot water an internet that were quickly fixed by a very helpful and friendly staff. They carried our bags to and from the station. Be prepared for the 100 steps climb to the small lodge with Thai inspired furnishings but it is well worth it. Charming.

The location next to the entrance of Machu Picchu is unbeatable. The rooms are not large but beautifully appointed. We had a lovely terrace looking over a central green space and there are walking paths with some private seating that are peaceful and quiet. The restaurant has very good food, great service and gracious dining. The entire team offers nothing but the highest level of customer service which made us feel very pampered and appreciated. This lodge is truly a place to unwind and find your own sanctuary.

Breakfast was exceptional . . Especially how we had a specially prepared breakfast package to take with us on our early morning trek up to the Machu Picchu citadel. . .the reception desk was always such a warm place to visit with the friendly smile and welcome a thing, always so genuinely on offer it seems . . .great courtesy and thoughtfulness was the order of the day and it reflected even so, across the mood and vibe of our fellow lodgers .
