Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
Make sure to ask for tour guide Orlando to do with you all activities at the lodge! He is a local guide with great experience. The property of the host is an absolute unique area in the widlife refuge of Indio Maiz; the lodge is very beautiful and in good shape. We also received a free upgrade to a bigger cabin. The personell is very friendly and helpful.
Absolutely stunning lodge. Waking up in the jungle was truly special. Food was tasty and activities were fun. The pool has a stunning view too. Bela the manager was incredibly attentive and helpful.
Excellent location on the water in a traditional wooden house, the family who own the property were lovely, very knowledgeable and helpful throughout our stay. it’s great if you’re looking for a comfortable cheap stay in something different to a big standard hotel as the house is full of character.
The beautiful and tranquil location are definitely the greatest assets of Guacimo Lodge. The view from the rooms is just amazing, and the staff is incredibly friendly and caring.
The lodge is beautifully set in the middle of the jungle next to the river. The staff was very helpful with organising further travels, everyone was genuinly friendly (they made me feel very welcome), and Orlando was a great guide for exploring and learning about the surrounding forest and its inhabitants. I recommend it to everyone whose budget allows for this luxury experience in nature...
Lovely wooden house right on the water with the rapids lulling you to sleep. Very kind staff. Amazing breakfast, it was no problem to get our breakfast at 6.
El Castillo itself is soooooo scenic. One of my favorite places in central america. Definitely take your time here.
