Bayu Senja Lodge, hotel in Ranau

Located in Kundasang in the Sabah region, Bayu Senja Lodge provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking.

It was hard to pick among all the options in Kundasang, but as we unfortunately only had one night, we opted for the Bayu Senja Lodge hoping to enjoy the nice views of the surrounding hills and misty valleys right from the terrace. And we were not disappointed! It is not too far from the main road, but still in a very lush and quiet place, so it feels like staying in the countryside. You can’t directly see Mount Kinabalu from the hotel, but once you reach the main road it comes into view (if not covered in clouds). We liked the very spacious triple room and used the shared kitchen for guests to prepare our own meal after a long day of travelling. Everything looks very well kept and new, it appeared that some cottage style rooms were being built at the hill, seemed to turn out very good as well. We did not interact a lot with the staff due to our short stay, but they were very friendly. We recommend getting up early to drive to one of the viewpoints for sunrise!

Ayana Holiday Resort, hotel in Ranau

Ayana Holiday Resort features garden views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Kundasang. The lodge offers a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries, slippers and bidet....

An alternate affordable place to settle and acclimatise before climbing Mount Kinabalu as it is conveniently located 2 minutes from Kinabalu Park. If you booked a 2D/1N climb and are looking to acclimatise prior, I highly recommend Ayana. Not only will you get a decent breakfast from Lily's Cottage next door (literally 30 secs away), but you also get to sleep in a little longer! I was picked up at 8.15am (as opposed to 6-ish if you are in Kota Kinabalu city). The room and bathroom are generally clean. Basic amenities (shampoo, soap) are provided, and also a kettle with instant coffee and sugar with 2 mugs in the room. Very lukewarm water with very low pressure so no power showers if that's what you are expecting. Great views of the valley, even in the standard room - loved waking up to it and listening to birdsong.

Possibly the most wonderful place we’ve stayed. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room (River lodge 2 bedrooms) was so relaxing, comfortable and large. The location is unbeatable - Poring Hot Springs entrance at your doorstep. The food at the restaurant was delicious and well priced. Cannot fault this property and would strongly recommend to others!

We absolutely loved our accommodation - the Lodge was spacious, cosy, comfortable, with 2 large bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms, fantastic veranda and lovely balcony. The breakfast in the restaurant was delicious. We also loved the surroundings and specially hot springs tubes, where we had a bath after a hike.

Initially booked Lodge 37. Thought it was the same Lodge37T near the Petronas I saw. The Lodge37 staff was very incompetent, bad service so the staff at Lodge37T have to contact me & I changed my booking to Lodge37T instead even though when I first saw the advert for Lodge37T, it was full. The only thing I'm happy about is that the staff at Lodge37T can easily change my booking to Lodge37T.

The view is excellent. You get a sweeping view of mount kinabalu and the surrounding vistas. Plus the weather was also super cooling and windy, no fan or ac needed. And you get free breakfast - between a choice of nasi lemak, American breakfast, and fried rice. Price-wise, it's more affordable than other lodges in the area
