The host family were very sweet, welcoming and helpful. They made us feel like we were at home. The room is on the small side but very comfortable, with air con, a mini fridge, place for luggage, big table etc. They helped us organise a bike rental and gave us recommendations on nice local places to eat. They made us a different breakfast every day which was very nice! The property is also very peaceful and we encountered different animals in their garden.

Funky Sol - Sunset Rooftop Bar, Hotel & Restaurant, hotel in Weligama

Featuring a restaurant as well as a bar, Funky Sol - Sunset Rooftop Bar, Hotel & Restaurant is located in Weligama, within 50 metres of Dammala Beach and 1.3 km of Midigama Beach.

Great location with direct view of a great shoreline...could leave the balcony doors opens and enjoy the fresh air and ocean waves day and night- great white noise while sleeping You could take advantage of the comfort and connection to the local community and very near nightlife... a quick drive either east into the core of Weligama (or westward as well), while being in a chilled, relaxed segment of the merissa-weligama-midigama shoreline. It was peaceful, quiet and sociable with beach shacks right in front to get to know other tourists and hospitable Sri Lankans running the beachside venues, and family run restaurants next door...either side of the hotel. The staff and owners at funky sol were great and I really enjoyed the communal social elements - restaurant/bar was welcoming creating great ambiance to get to know others since the restaurant bar gets a lot of patrons from neighboring hotels. Makes You feel a part of a community from the first day. Easy to get a tuk tuk ride since there's a defacto tuk tuk stand close by - 100m from entrance. Was a great option to decompress and integrate into a local beach community

Brand - new apartment with all amenities for a comfortable stay and a beautiful view over a rice field, quiet and save neighborhood as well. Lasa and his wife are super kind hosts and I loved the daily home-made breakfast with fruit and fresh coconuts from their own garden. It’s been my 2nd stay already and I will definitely come back many more times.

The best stay we had in Sri Lanka! At first it was difficult for our TukTuk driver to find the Villa, but as soon as we got there we were in love. Remote area in the forest with palm tree garden to relax in the shadow, river up front. The appartment was the most modern und luxurios we have seen on the island. The Bathroom omg!!!!! Stayed for 5 nights and will definetly return? Also Sahan was really caring to look after us and our laundry and everything else.

The room was lovely, a good size and very clean. The bathroom was modern and spotless. There was a shared kitchen which had all the basic cooking utensils. Breakfast was delicious and varied day to day, including a hot breakfast and fruits. The lodge is across the road from a very nice swimming bay and is also a short distance from surf spots and trendy cafes. Excellent hosts. Good value for money.

The location is so gorgeous with the beach super close and the river backing on to the garden. Sanjeewa and his wife were so welcoming and kind, making sure we were looked after and experiencing all there was to in Weligama, including taking us out on a river safari tour on his boat. We had a delicious breakfast both mornings one of which he set up for us on the boat so we could eat with a gorgeous view.

Nipon, the owner, is an amazing human being. He even cooked vegan breakfast (rice and curry) for me everyday which I highly appreciate. He loves to cook and learn new recipes. When I saw how his eyes glowed up talking about safari trips, I knew we had to book a tour with him. Next time a proper one and not on short notice. He is trustworthy and creates a very nice atmosphere in the guesthouse.

Great, clean property and very friendly and welcoming staff. We loved the Yala National Park Safari tour that the owner organized for us, it was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had! We saw a leopard, elephants, deer and many more animals in the wild. Highly recommend this tour if you’re staying here.

The owner was a really kind person. In general, the whole complex is really lovely and well treated. Wonderful garden and the rooms were clean and comfy. The breakfest was also really good. The apartment is located near a beautiful beach with an awesome beach bar which has cool drinks and the best curry we ate in sri lanka so far. In total a really good place to calm down and level up your energy. Definitely recommend the whitegates lodge.
