Arawe Retreat, hotel in Buttala

A real special place. The right place to relax, meditate and connect to nature. There are 3 villas, each stands by itself, privacy is a key here. A walking distance from Ella and Ella train station. When staying you can feel the care and love put in this place. Words can’t describe this place, but if you are around, treat yourself with a stay here. Food was outstanding and service unique, all, specially Suren, did everything to make me feel home 🙏🏼

Cozy Mountain Cabin Ella, hotel in Buttala

Set 5.3 km from Demodara Nine Arch Bridge, Cozy Mountain Cabin Ella offers accommodation with a terrace, a bar and room service for your convenience.

Loved it here! We were welcomed warmly and were instantly offered some tea at our arrival. The way up to the hostel is a little bit steep but once you are there the view is amazing and definitely worth the small hike. From the start to the end we felt very comfortable and really enjoyed chilling on the big balcony reading, playing games, drinking a lot of tea and watching the mountains. It was like a cozy living room. The rooms are also totally fine and clean. Only the walls to the other rooms are a little bit thin but did not bother us most of the time. Every morning the breakfast was a highlight with fresh fruits, juice, coffee/tea, eggs, hoppers and a lot more. The hosts were the best - always offering their help. In the end we even decided to extend our visit for a little bit longer. If you‘re thinking of booking, do it and you you won‘t regret it!:)

The most impressing was the view. It felt if you were in a tree house in the middle of the jungle. Animals (especially monkeys) everywhere! The bed was good, the room was very clean and luxurious! The staff was very friendly and polite! (We still wonder were he appeared from, but he did when we needed him and that was perfect!)

A perfect private place with nice river to cool down. The caretaker makes the best breakfast and dinners. It was very clean, warm shower, outside hammocks. And the Yala North gate is close by for safari in the less crowded part of Yala. Really a gem!

We had a wonderful stay! Our host showed us the sugar cane plantation, went on a little safari with us, spoiled our two little boys with sugar cane and river adventures and we couldn't have imagined a better stop on our road trip through Sri Lanka! The food was delicious, the service too and the host family was super friendly! Thank you for everything! We'll be happy to come back!

We stayed here because we wanted to do a safari in Yala park. The place is really nice, a real retreat, surrounded by nature. They cooked for us - delicious dinner and they prepared a snack for the safari, which the host organised for us. Our driver Bati did an amazing job at spotting animals, he was super knowledgeable and friendly. We really enjoyed the time here.

This is a great place with wonderful view next to the river. The extraordinary friendly staff, a very helpful family prepared extremely tasty food for breakfast and dinner. We had a great Safari experience with the Jeep of the owner - felt like we were the only visitors to Yala National Park - owner is giving all to deliver an extraordinary experience. Very recommended!

If you like a bit of adventure into the wild, this is the pace for you! Situated only 20 minutes drive from the National Park entrance, you will get the perfect quiet & chill atmosphere away from everything. The two hammocks in the patio will help you relax even more. Breakfast & Dinner were simply delicious (homemade products). Room is good and bathroom is just outside. I would recommend the Jeep Safari experience. Thank you to the host Suj for providing us with lots of information before our arrival.

In one word perfect! It’s a little hustle to get to the accomodation. But when you’re there bathiya will do everything to make you feel welcome. From a little walk through his garden to the amazing dinner he will provide for you. We even did 2 little safari’s in his jeep and he will tell you everything he knows about the animals and nature. When we go to Sri Lanka again, we defenitely will come back here!

Bhagya was the perfect host. His accommodation is ideal for those who like a genuine home stay in a beautiful natural environment. The home cooked food from his mum was excellent. Bhagya looked after us and showed us around the local area. We also booked a safari into Yala national park with Bhagya and were very lucky to see lots of wild life including 2 leopards- thanks to his keen eyesight. Over all an excellent 3 night stay.

Lovely peaceful cabin near the national park. Bhagya is a great host and the accommodation is ideal. The vain is private and comes with kitchenette loaded with snacks and cold drinks (even beer) and a washing machine for your clothes! The location is next to the national park, making it perfect for a safari trip. The food prepared by Bhagya’s mum is some of the best I’ve had in a two week trip in Sri Lanka!

Very welcoming host who took us for a drive on his jeep to see the elephants on the day we arrived. Mama makes the best food! And the safari drive into the park was worth it. Would definitely recommend! Very homely location on a farm
