Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
This cozy lodge out in the mountains was everything I had hope for. Ken & Sei were extremely welcoming & treated me like a family member the moment I arrived. The huge lounge area was the perfect place to meet other travelers & share ur stories..I loved how accessible it was to the UNESCO park, The fishing pond, and Kirifuri Falls. Will definitely be back again.
The location is great, quite and close to nature. The owner is very nice and speaks English very well. The lodge is comfy and warm, there is a veranda where you can sit outside.
The hotel was modern, like Scandinavian lodge design. Cozy at night and bright for morning coffee outside on terrace. Rooms were new, comfortable and much bigger than average Japan. We read reviews and knew that there was no food service. So we brought something for breakfast that we could heat-up in the common kitchen area and enjoy with the free coffee they provided.
It’s a nice cozy lodge with very nice host. She speaks English and happy to advise guests about what to do in the area.
The lodge is nestled between the forest and 3 mins from the lodge I discovered a nice short trek to the river.
They have many rooms. We had the one with our own private bathroom.
The Annex Turtle Hotori-An is a great place to stay. It’s in a lovely and quiet location with scenic views of the surrounding hills. Well located for a number of Nikko’s attractions, it offers value for money with its own onsen and comfortable traditional Japanese style lodging.
Loveeeed our stay at Nikko park lodge. The stay felt so homely and the hosts are so nice! We also had beautiful views of the mountains from our room which was a major plus. Will definitely come back
The lodge is in a nice quiet wooded location. It gives you a kind of a camping outdoors feeling. The common room is great with comfy sofas and plenty tables. Staff is also very friendly and can speak Japanese and English very well . ....and definitely order the chicken Adobo when it's available. ♥️
Mariko's kindness is absolutely outstanding, even for Japanese standards. She is one of the best, if not the best host we have ever had the luck to meet. She even prepared a delicious breakfast for us and drove us to the train station because we were in a bit of a hurry. The lodging is simple yet lovely, cozy, in a great location and super clean. So top choice, you won't regret it!
