Ash Cottage, hotel in Pont-Nedd-Fechan

Ash Cottage in Merthyr Tydfil provides accommodation with free WiFi, 38 km from University of South Wales - Cardiff Campus, 38 km from Motorpoint Arena Cardiff and 39 km from Cardiff Castle.

The cottage was small, cosy and well appointed. The beds were very comfortable as was the linen. The Taff Trail is situated 60ft from the front door which was great for a walk, running or gentle bike ride. The whole property felt well maintained and clean. I loved the proximity of the parking and bike storage. The setting was nice and quiet with no passing traffic. There were a few local shops a very short drive away. The kitchen had all I needed to cook my dinner and breakfast. I really enjoyed my stay and though the cottage helped me to relax.

Really friendly and helpful staff, lovely clean room. The room felt cosy, home from home feel.Food and drink was really reasonably priced. Big portions too! Good location for doing the waterfalls. Would recommend a stay. There are quite a few other pubs on your doorstep, which we checked out. The lodge was the nicest place by far.

This lodge was a lovely surprise. It is very well done, making the most of the compact space. The bed was very comfy. The restaurant downstairs served lovely meals but you need to book a table as it is a very popular place with locals. We also had a very nice breakfast but again you need to book a table. Opposite the lodge is a pub and behind the pub is a lovely riverside walk with signs telling you the history of the quarrying done in this area.

Sgwd Gwladys Lodge is perfect for a short break to explore the wonderful Waterfalls Country which is right on the doorstep. My room was 'small but perfectly formed' and had everything I needed for a very comfortable stay. The staff were lovely and breakfast (offered from 9am onwards) exceptional. Coffee also v good.

Loved the decor and we had plenty of space in our room. I’d booked the larger room having read reviews about other rooms being very small. The bed was comfy and everything very clean. We had breakfast at the cafe downstairs which was excellent. The lodge is right near the Elidir waterfalls trail which is a very pretty walk, even in November. We ate in the evening at the Old White Horse where the lamb shank was excellent & the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The lodge was perfect for our short stay and would definitely recommend

The food in the lodge downstairs is absolutely delicious. Really high quality and the best we tried in Pontneddfechan. The rooms are a little small, but very comfortable and provided everything we needed. Liked the storage for walking boots in the corridor so no need to get carpets muddy! The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. For walkers, the location is spot on for walks in Waterfall Country - really spectacular scenery.
