Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
We enjoyed the hot tub. The lodge was pleasant. The site was nice to walk around and listen to the fountains and see the lake in-between the lodges. There was a couple of broken items that we let the owners know about straight away. They offered to come round to sort it out ASAP. We said they didn't need to but they came anyway with a bottle of prosecco, box of chocolates and replaced brocken items which was very kind.
There were enough beds for all 6 as we have had to use the sofa bed with previous holidays in different lodges. We have stayed at this site before and find it nice and quiet and well maintained.
We were staying at The Old Lodgings down the road.
It is only a short walk from the Old Lodge.
The grounds are stunning.
Not far from the town centre.
Room 27 very spacious and really clean.
Evening meal at The Old Lodge was great.
Really hot food and Sunday Roast is huge.
Staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
Postcode linked to two different sites which was difficult to find. Once found correct accommodation, we were told that booking.com had double booked the lodge. Unable to contact renter with the number provided on booking.com. As we were second to turn up we were told that we were very lucky that they had 2 lodges spare. Man at the desk was exceptionally helpful and we are grateful that he was able to accommodate us to another lodge. We picked between the two.
Got messed about with lodges, should have been in spring well, then was told we were in 15 the green but someone was in that then told no it’s 33 the green and then someone was in that and in the end was in 5 the green. Was a pain at first as we didn’t arrive till 9pm but had a good relaxing wkend after that so all good
We had a lovely stay and the lodge we ended up in met our expectations and was very nice. In particular, a special mention for Michelle at the reception who was wonderful and sorted out a major blunder that was made by the management of these lodges.
The Old Lodge is well situated. Lots of parking. We stayed in the ‘Old Lodgings’ which is a separate building across the road from the church only 2 minutes walk from the main building. The building is quiet.
Lovely and quiet lodges, lots of nice touches like outside umbrella which is super important. Lovely rooms, light and airy feel with nice furniture inside and out. Fab location with lots to do locally.
