The host was incredibly friendly. He provided me with free drinking water during my stay, a free room upgrade and was always very helpful with handing out cards and explaining how to get around. He also offered to buy tickets for me in advance. Overall, great stay. The lodge is 15-20 min walking distance to the east gate of the national park.

A group of 9 of us stayed at No. 5 Valley Lodge and had a great experience! Rain and team were great hosts that helped us coordinate travel between airport/train stations and helped us book tickets to all the nearby parks and attractions. In addition, the rooms were very nice and well-equipped and the food at the hotel was top notch. Would recommend to anyone visiting Zhangjiajie!
Location was good. They made effort with cooking us breakfast and special dietary needs. We liked bath on balcony -just keep light outside off there are bugs. Room was comfortable. We walked to a good restaurant at nearby eco lodge that accommodated my gluten free requests for dinner.
The lodge was beautiful, scenic, and had a great blend of an old remote village for its peacefulness and simplicity but also modern comfort.
The staff were friendly and really helpful. Rain, the receptionist, helped us plan everything thing and bought our tickets which enabled us to see all the key spots within our stay.
The food was also really good - did not need to go out into town and we were absolutely happy to have the dinners at the lodge everynight, though I recommend trying 1 or 2 spots in town during your stay.
