Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
This place is lovely, the attention to detail, and the helpfulness, friendliness and knowledge of the host set it apart. The breakfast was really good, fresh local produce, some from their own garden and chickens was superbly prepared and served. Many thanks Michael, we would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at Explorers lodge.
We had an amazing stay at Explorer’s, the lodge is picture perfect! The room was lovely and incredibly comfortable, every little detail was thought of, and it’s only a short walk to the town centre - and an easy day trip to Hobart or Mt Field National Park. Make sure to stay in for breakfast, it was a highlight! Michael was a wonderful host, highly highly recommend staying here if you’re in or around New Norfolk.
Explorers Lodge was a delight. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable, had a well appointed meals and lounge area and the hosts were marvellous. The cooked breakfasts were excellent with home preserved fruits and jams as well. A great place to stay in historic New Norfolk.
The most beautifully restored and decorated house, with large bedrooms, king beds, great views and awesome service. Michael greeted us and
showed us to our rooms and gave us all the local information we needed. Lovely sitting areas for guests and a beautiful garden to wander through.
there are fruit trees, vegetables and chooks! Exceptional breakfast with many options and real espresso coffee! Included some produce from
garden, including their own preserved fruits. I would highly recommend Explorers Lodge
The owner/care taker, Graeme, is the best host. We stayed at the bungalow and it is very comfortable and clean. It is well equipped with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. We mentioned to Graeme that we were going to visit a very remote area the next day and Graeme was so kind to loan us his EPERB. Thank you kindly Graeme.
Explorers Lodge was blissfully comfortable. Big bonus was the garden, with abundant fruit trees and flowers. It's a 30 minute easy walk to Agrarian Kitchen and a 30 minute drive to the Mount Field visitors centre (another half hour up to Lake Dobson). Really enjoyed ourselves. We stayed in the self-contained apartment and it had everything you might need including a washing machine.
