We were departing on a cruise but wanted to spend a couple of nights in San Francisco first. This was our first visit to San Francisco so this choice of hotel was a random choice. The location was great, not too far from the bay so an Uber ride was very reasonable. The room met our needs with the two queen beds. Beds were extremely comfortable.

Home to one of America’s icons – the Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco is a liberal city where life is very much for the living.
Surrounded by water on 3 sides, the city's spread over steep hills that make for great photo ops. And none better than the zig-zag Lombard Street, seen in many a film. Even more famous are San Fran's iconic trolleys climbing the hills – a little touristy, but still worth a ride.
In the middle of the bay, Alcatraz island is known for the notorious criminals once imprisoned there. Even if you don’t go inside, the views of the bridge and city are unparalleled.
Nowhere is life in San Francisco more laid-back than on the Pacific beaches. Rent a bike and head out there, passing through the huge Golden Gate Park, before returning to sample some fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf. Don't miss the clam chowder served in bread bowls! Chinatown also has a great selection of mid-range restaurants.
As you fly into San Francisco Airport, look out for the exclusive homes lining the Bay Area. Whether you want a more independent stay in apartments, luxury San Francisco hotels or cheap hostels, Booking.com has something for everyone. Be careful though – you might just leave your heart here!
This has been my most favorite domestic destination since...
This has been my most favorite domestic destination since first visiting in 1975; I've returned almost annually. Transportation is easy, there are many sights such as the Ferry Building, Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, Golden Gate Park and SOMA. Its unique architecture is charming and while there's urban blight, it appears during my October 2024 return, the city's trying their best to 'clean it up'. There are many empty businesses in the city that once was very vibrant but it also appears to be starting a rebound economically. Regardless, I will always return to this gem as long as I am able to!

Italian restaurant at Club Donatello served up some beautiful food but expensive. Would still recommend
Hotel Club Donatello was very luxurious, and we enjoyed our stay here
Target good place to get essentials and food
Safe during the day in City center but avoid the back streets.
Alot of homeless people and drug dealing on those streets particular The Tenderloin area-open air drug market-common place to see people using and selling drugs, human waste, used needles, and bullet casings litter the street. Do not walk in that area at any cost
We got around with Uber and Lyft

We stayed for 6 days.
We stayed for 6 days. Planned and booked everything in advance to ensure we did what we wanted to. Would recommend e-biking around SF early in any visit to get a feel for the city. Visits to the Golden Gate Bridge, the vineyards and Alcatraz a must. Also dinner at the Top of the Mark for the spectacular views. Loved travelling on the Cable Cars (just like the movies!) and even took a Waymo driverless cab!!

Spotless hotel in a great location. Neighbourhood is very safe and has plenty of bars & restaurants to enjoy. We saw some bad reviews for the car park around the corner so decided to park at a secure car park on union street roughly 10 mins walk away, it was $30 a for 24hrs and very secure. The hotel’s loading bay at the entrance makes unpacking and repacking the car with luggage super easy. Also the rooftop has fantastic views of the city. Overall by far the best option we had found in San Francisco, especially for the price.
first of all was greeted by the owner, who was so lovely, made me feel very welcome, advised on how to best spend my few days in san francisco, gave me map, advise what to do and where not to go. The room was very clean, quiet and felt warm (in a good way). shared bathroom and toilet were very clean and not too many people sharing with. The hotel was 10 min walk to Union square and just slightly more to the closest train station (there direct train to the airport) so very easy commute.
Stayed here for a week. Room is very clean and roomier than expected. There is a walk-in closet in the room which is very convenient for storing your purchases and luggage. The location was perfect right across Saks Fifth Avenue in Union Square. All day free coffee and tea in the lobby, and every other day popcorn. Microwave is also available. Staff was very lovely. Enough eating and breakfast options in less than 2 minute walk. This is the hotel to stay in San Francisco.
Great hotel off the main Market Street in downtown San Francisco. Very central to main attractions and public transport. Clean and tidy. Good bed and pillows. Quiet. Nice reception area to sit and plan things.
