Old hotel but fair price. Friendly staff and a clean, small pool. I could have wished for a key chain on the door. I am in a foreign country and dont know about the crime, so it will help to feel safe at night. The bay-view rooms are fantastic--we saw the snowy peaks of Mauna Kea clearly. The hotel is situated almost within Liliuokalani Gardens, which was rated as the most scenic picnic spot on the Big Island by Lonely Planet. Tree frogs sang in the evenings in March and created a summer feel. Ample and free parking on the premise. The steak restaurant has bay views, too, and served large portions.
